Winner Announced On
September 8, 2014
Have you ever dreamt of getting signed to one of the biggest record labels in the world? Of recording in a top studio with professionals? Of being mentored by the best music people in the industry?

The brief is simple...

If you are a musician, band or singer-songwriter producing music that is either one of, or a blend of popular music genres - Pop, Indie//Rock, EDM, Hip-Hop, R&B or Singer-Songwriter - then all you need to submit is your chosen lead track, and a minimum of one other of your own tracks to your Talenthouse profile.

The winning act will receive a digital single deal with Sony Music UK, home to Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Calvin Harris, Kings of Leon, Daft Punk & Rita Ora, and legendary artists such as Michael Jackson and Johnny Cash.

Your tracks will be professionally recorded and mastered at a renowned recording studio, you'll receive mentoring from top label executives, and have 2 official music videos and an interview produced and distributed. Along with this career lightning bolt, you'll receive the full marketing and promotional push that Sony Music will put behind you to get your music heard.

And you will benefit from exposure on Sony Xperia’s free global android app Xperia Lounge and on its social media channels.

This is the chance of a lifetime. Meet the judges and start your journey here.

Meet the judges
As Co-MD and A&R at Epic, Steven's main role is to identify, sign and develop talent to have long lasting, internationally successful careers. Having worked in both the US and UK markets, Steven can bring a global, holistic approach to his artists and the records that he makes with them. In the past he has managed artists such as Sam Sparro and Crystal Method and has extensive 3rd party revenue acquisition for artists and organisations. He has also consulted the Scottish government on media opportunities.

"Being smart and understanding what music you make, understanding the market for your music, understanding where that music sits in the bigger picture, if you can understand where you live in your biosphere as an artist and you can make those expectations, you've got a chance for a career."

Genevieve Ampaduh
During Genevieve's time at Sony Music she has been responsible for the digital strategy, campaign planning and social media management for all artists on the Syco Music label including: One Direction, Labrinth, Little Mix, Cher Lloyd, Ella Henderson and Leona Lewis. Genevieve trains artists to help them find their 'social media mojo' and gain an understanding of both their audience and their social platforms.

"It's really important that you get your social media profiles in good shape – your social channels are often the next step after someone's first heard about you. So build a network! It's not just about adding everybody who's in your genre on Twitter and Facebook - go to their gigs, meet them in the real world, make some genuine connections... It's a 24/7 job being an artist these days so make sure you are authentic and true to yourself."

Sam is Head of Radio at Columbia Records UK. He represents the likes of Daft Punk, Calvin Harris and Tom Odell at all the UK's national radio stations, maximising their single's radio play and organising interviews and live radio sessions for all his artists. He worked his way up through college radio, to a junior role at WMG before his move to Sony. Sam recently featured in Music Week's 30 Under 30 feature and is a Co-founder of The Young Guns Network.

"Persistence is really key. Sometimes when you start out, not everyone gets your music and often it takes sheer drive and determination over a period of time to make people believe in them. Even the biggest artists have had their fair share of no's early on."

Chris Dempsey
As Senior Marketing Manager for Epic Records UK, Chris is responsible for managing major release campaigns for artists such as: Foxes, Manic Street Preachers, Don Broco, Hurts, Le Youth & While She Sleeps and previously worked with bands such as Foster The People and Glasvegas at Columbia Records UK. In the past he worked at Jeepster Recordings with Belle & Sebastian and Snow Patrol, ran his own label Worst Case Scenario Records and music magazine Spill.
Holly Marshall
Holly started her career in music at Sony Music and after stints at both major labels and as the owner of her own agency It's On PR, is now back at Sony as acting Head of TV Promotions. Holly has worked with an amazing and varied roster of artists including: Kanye West, The Killers, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Busted and The Sugababes during her time at Island and Mercury Records and The Manic Street Preachers, NIN, Foxes, Union J and Example during her two stints at Sony.
