Premier your film with the Prince Charles Cinema & BFI Future Film

Winner Announced On
October 17, 2014
STATEMENT BY PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA
"Due to the level of quality we have received for the competition, we were delayed in the judging process and as such have decided to move the date of the screening to the 23rd November 2014 - we feel with even greater support from us, and our hugely passionate audience, we can generate more exposure for the submitted films, get them seen by even more people than we have already and also create more PR and social awareness for the winning films!

The audience for Short Films is extremely limited, so the chance to expand upon the promotion in the lead up to the screening seems like a win-win for all concerned. It was ambitious to have the screening so close but we want to make this the best that it can be and offer a real opportunity and platform for these short films to be seen."
THE BRIEF
The Prince Charles Cinema and the British Film Institute (BFI) are giving young British filmmakers a money-can’t-buy opportunity to have their work screened in the heart of London’s entertainment capital, during the Film Festival season this October.*

We are looking for the hottest new UK filmmakers to submit an UNSCREENED, original short film to become part of an evening showcasing new British filmmaking talent.

The brief is simple; your short film can be of any genre or medium, but must
  • be an original, mastered film
  • be no longer than 10 minutes in length
  • not have been shown at a public screening event before October 19th, 2014

Ten filmmakers will be selected by the Prince Charles Cinema and BFI Future Film and be invited to attend a red carpet event of new film talent hosted at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square on October 19th, 2014*.

A weekly selection of our favourite submissions will be shared via social media, so submit early to get the most exposure!

*The screening has been moved to November 23, 2014.

ABOUT THE PRINCE CHARLES CINEMA
Known for its programme of cult, arthouse and classic films, the 389-seat Prince Charles Cinema has achieved a cult status amongst fans, sticking out as the only independent cinema remaining in the West End.

During the UK launch of Kill Bill 2, Uma Thurman recorded a special video introduction for a double bill of both movies being held at the cinema. In it she welcomed the audience to "Quentin's favourite UK cinema." Tarantino has said, "The Prince Charles Cinema is everything an independent movie theatre should be. For lovers of quality films, this is Mecca." He further described it as London's "queen's jewel" of a grindhouse.
