THE BRIEF
Nokia and National Geographic photographer Stephen Alvarez are inviting photographers from across the globe to submit photos inspired by the spirit of travel, nature and/or adventure for the chance to join world-class photographer Stephen Alvarez on a mentoring road trip through Puerto Rico.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
Nokia and Stephen Alvarez will select 40 finalists to receive a one year subscription to National Geographic Magazine and new Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone ‘trial’ device.
These finalists will be asked to put the Nokia Lumia 1020 to the test and discover things they never thought possible with a smartphone.
The challenge will be to curate a portfolio of travel and adventure themed photos that tell incredible stories within stories possible with the Nokia Lumia 1020 Pro Camera features and Zoom.

THE CAREER OPPORTUNITY
5 winning portfolio holders will be selected by the judges to receive:

- Masterclass with Stephen to create a travel journal/portfolio of pictures

ABOUT STEVEN ALVAREZ
Stephen Alvarez produces global stories about exploration, adventure, and culture. A National Geographic photographer since 1995, he has published over a dozen stories with the magazine, including the discovery of an ancient Incan mummy in Peru, the deepest cave in the world near the Black Sea and a jungle expedition through Central America’s longest cave.
THE COMMUNITY CHOICE
We respect the opinion of the public and the highest voted will certainly catch our eye. The highest voted will be given a new Nokia Lumia 1020.
CREATIVE INVITE GUIDELINES
- Participants must submit: Photography (JPG or PNG (5MB Max) which can be taken on any device
- Photography submitted must be original (meaning not using third party copyright materials) but can be pre-existing or created especially for this opportunity
- Participants must include a description about their submission including which device it was captured on. We also recommend including a link to their Talenthouse Portfolio
- When sharing on social media, please use the hash tags: #NokiaxNatGeo and #Lumia1020
- 40 finalists will need to upload their new images, taken on the Nokia Lumia 1020 that will be sent to them after the first round, to their Talenthouse portfolio.
- The finalists will be judged on the strength of their portfolios so this isn't limited to just one album of images, finalists are encouraged to upload as many images as they like
- The portfolios of the 40 finalists should be made of photos captured on the Lumia 1020 with no Photoshop or additional editing programme (unless on the Nokia 1020 device) adjustments applied
- Winning entrants must be available to travel between: Thursday 30th January and Sunday 2nd February
- Please ensure you use the correct email address when entering. Once we contact you, you will be expected to provide your passport number, expiration date and date of birth
- Winning entrants must have a passport and be eligible to travel to Puerto Rico. To find out more click here
- Winning entrants that travel to Puerto Rico will be required to document their experience using a Nokia Lumia 1020 device
- Submitting entrants that do not have a passport or who are unable to travel to Puerto Rico may still participate and be considered for the Highest Voted and Highly Commended positions
- The sponsor will make every endeavour to send out the trial devices to all Finalists. The sponsor is not reliable for any email communication failures, so please keep in contact if your device is not delivered as if this information is not communicated to the sponsor representative this will compromise the integrity and viability of your eligibility for the main prize.
- Inappropriate or harmful submissions will be removed

HOW THE JUDGES WILL CHOOSE
The judges will select from all qualified submissions with special consideration for the top voted entries. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
