Design stage visuals for HI-LO's debut show

Dutch producer Oliver Heldens invites filmmakers, animators, illustrators and graphic designers from around the world to create background visuals to be used in his first-ever live performance under his new alias HI-LO.

HI-LO's name, current visuals and music all emphasize contrast. (E.g. Really low basslines interspersed with high notes). Artists are encouraged to draw from the theme of "contrast" and submit a video (up to 10 minutes in length) of the visuals they plan on developing. You may include aspects of the HI-LO logo, but this should not have a predominance in your designs.

One Selected Artist will work with HI-LO's video jockey to bring their graphics to life and have them premiered at HI-LO's first show.

With his mad filthy basslines and swinging techy beats HI-LO is going to blow a lot of minds very soon. His killer bass house jam “Crank It Up” has only recently seen the light of day, but is already being played by some heavyweights from different scenes like Diplo, Green Velvet, Flux Pavilion, Tiësto, Umek, Oliver Heldens, Kaskade and Knife Party to name a few. It seems the crowds are ready for some serious bassline madness, even though most of them might not be aware of this themselves... HI-LO is here to show them how it’s done, so prepare yourself to dance like a fool and rage like a maniac... the bass invasion is coming.

the career opportunity
One artist, as selected by HI-LO and his guest judge, will:
  • Have the opportunity to bring their designs to life with the help of HI-LO's video jockey and live production team (via Skype or otherwise)
  • Have their graphics used at HI-LO's first show and potentially in future shows
  • Receive exposure for their work across HI-LO's channels
  • Receive $1,500

Joost van Aarle
Joost van Aarle is a freelance Tour/Production Manager and has been active as a show designer for several years. After studying Arts & Economics in Utrecht (NLD) he gained experience in different genres of live production such as Dance, Rock, Theater and Classical on both national and international touring productions. In the last couple of years he has worked with artists such as Within Temptation, Mr Polska, Spinvis and Wende. He is currently working as Tour/Production Manager for Oliver Heldens.
creative invite guidelines
  • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
  • All submissions must be original (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials).
  • Artists must submit their video to YouTube then paste the video URL via the "Participate" tab on Talenthouse. Please bear in mind that YouTube adds one second when uploading.
  • The Selected Artist assigns the copyright to their work to HI-LO in exchange for the incentives set forth above. All other artists retain ownership of their work.
  • Artists are free to use the HI-LO logos provided, but it is not required.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • The Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within two days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions, as well as submissions that do not fit the brief or guidelines, will be removed.
  • No purchase necessary to enter.
how hi-lo will choose
HI-LO and his guest judge will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
