Design packaging for the three new products in Chivas 18 Years Old's Ultimate Casks Collection

Chivas Regal invites graphic artists from around the world to design the label and outer box packaging artwork for a series of Limited Editions of Chivas 18 Years Old Scotch whisky finished in wine casks. The new products will be part of their Ultimate Casks Collection, inspired by the concept 'Success is a Blend'. The theme of the artwork should focus on 1 of the 3 cask finishes.

Chivas Regal is looking for creative designs that bring to life the 3 different Limited Editions of Chivas 18 Years Old finish in wine casks, that will be sold in airports around the world. The 3 Limited Edition cask finishes are: Margaux wine cask finish, St Emilion wine cask finish, and Sauternes wine cask finish.

All submissions should use the packaging templates provided, but you may also create other visual mockups of your design.

There is an incentive pool of £12,000 for this opportunity. Each selected design will receive £4,000. A minimum of 1 and up to 3 designs will be selected from the Creative Invite. Chivas Regal may select 1 design, and commission this artist to develop 2 additional designs. In this case, the Selected Artist will be notified and be given 2 weeks to complete the work.

Do
  • Designs should use the packaging templates provided. Please respect the dimensions and die cut of the templates, and see these packaging sizes. Update as of May 13, 2019: Download the bottle label and fonts here.
  • Your designs should bring to life 1 of these 3 Limited Editions of Chivas 18 Years Old finish in wine casks:
    • Cask finish 1: Margaux wine cask finish (red wine)
    • Cask finish 2: St Emilion wine cask finish (red wine)
    • Cask finish 3: Sauternes wine cask finish (white wine)
  • Each submission should Include your bottle label and box designs. These 2 elements should complement each other.
  • Feel free to submit designs for each of the 3 cask finishes - Please ensure each design is distinctive.
  • Please only use the space available for your design, and do not change or move the fixed elements - see the Design Guide for full details.
  • Designs for all cask finishes should be vibrant, modern, fresh and clean, whilst feeling contemporary and premium.
  • Designs for each cask finish should be inspired by the potential properties and heritage of each cask. And the creative representation of the flavour notes is encouraged, but do not be too literal. Read more about each cask finish.
  • The crest on the bottle label should remain in the blue colour provided. For the rest of the bottle and box design, you are free to use any colours you wish. Please ensure the crest compliments the rest of the design.
  • Your box label design should contain a ‘band’ on the lower part of the label, where Chivas Regal will add key product information. The width and style of this 'band' is up to you, but please ensure there is enough space to add the 3 lines of legible text detailed in the Design Guide.
  • Selected Artists will need to supply their artwork as a vector file and as an AI file or similar (high-res, layered PSD files, CMYK & 300dpi minimum, may also be accepted).
  • The Ultimate Casks Collection will be on sale in airports internationally so should be culturally acceptable around the world.

Don't
  • Avoid traditional or stereotypical interpretations of wine, France and French wine regions. Unless you bring an interesting twist to it!
  • Designs should not imply the product is a blend of whisky and wine - it is not. It is a whisky finished in a wine cask, so infused with its flavours.
  • Designs should not be too literal or include literal depictions of the whisky's flavours.
  • Designs should not be over complicated or cluttered.
  • Please do not include images of wine casks, glassware, bottle, grapes in your design as it is too literal and misleading.
  • Designs should not interfere or change the position or colour of the Chivas Regal crest logo.
  • Designs should not appeal to children - they should appeal to adults and look premium.
  • You should not show or imply drunkenness, pregnancy, dangerous situations, drink driving, or include people anyone under the age of 25 in your design.

About The Ultimate Casks Collection
The Chivas 18 Years Old Ultimate Casks Collection is exclusively available in travel retail and was first launched in October 2015 with the American Oak Finish. Chivas 18 Years Old is stored in the barrel, and over time the whisky takes on some of the flavour notes from the wood, which brings another dimension and finish to the whisky. Over the years since there have been many limited editions in Chivas's Ultimat Casks Collection. Each is an intense reinterpretation of Chivas 18 Years Old whisky, with unique flavour notes from the wooden cask infusing every single drop.
THE CAREER OPPORTUNITY
An incentive pool of £12,000 has been made available for this opportunity. Each design selected by Chivas Regal will receive £4,000. A minimum of 1 and up to 3 designs will be selected. Chivas Regal may select 1 design, and commission this artist to develop 2 additional designs. The Selected Artist(s) will:
  • Have the potential opportunity to produce the official Chivas Regal Limited Edition bottle label and box in The Ultimate Casks Collection range, which will be sold across airports around the world;
  • Have the potential opportunity for their work to be shared across Chivas Regal's key digital marketing channels (e.g. across social media, digital, in-store).
CREATIVE INVITE GUIDELINES
  • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 25 years of age at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of Chivas Regal and Talenthouse are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Each submission should contain at least these two elements: a bottle label design and a box design by using the provided packaging templates and bottle label and fonts. Each submission should focus on 1 of the 3 cask finishes. All submissions should follow the guidelines set out in the Design Guide.
  • This opportunity is open to individual artists, or artist teams. Submissions are limited to 10 submissions per artist or artist team.
  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission without owning the copyright to this material) except for the material provided by Chivas Regal (Pernod Ricard). All rights in and to the material provided are reserved by Chivas Regal (Pernod Ricard).
  • Please retain your original artwork files in the highest quality possible but work must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max size 10MB. The Selected Artists will have to supply their artwork as a vector file and as an AI file or similar (high-res, layered PSD files, CMYK and 300dpi minimum, may also be accepted).
  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your design. Please use the 'Say something about your submission' section within your submission.
  • We advise you to carefully read the "Do & Don't" section above.
  • Artists that are not selected retain ownership in the original portions of their work, however, Chivas Regal (Pernod Ricard) has the right to promote submissions on their channels in connection with this Creative Invite for three (3) months after the announcement of the Selected Artists. All artists will be credited accordingly.
  • Selected Artists will have to sign an agreement assigning all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Chivas Regal (Pernod Ricard) for global usage. The selected work can still be used for an artist's own portfolio purposes.
  • The selected submission may be modified in collaboration with the Selected Artist to accommodate production requirements.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • The Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines, Official Rules or Pernod Ricard's Code of Compliance.

how Chivas Regal will choose
Chivas Regal will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
