Warriors is a series of fantasy novels that follows the adventures of wild cats in their forest and lake homes. The series follows the complex tales of over a thousand Warrior Cats characters, who are divided into six different Clans and territories. Coolabi (the brand owner) now wants to give fans the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fantasy through the magic of Augmented Reality.

Design an immersive and playful lens inspired by Warrior Cats.

Whether you're a pro lens creator, 3D artist or digital illustrator looking to expand your lens skills, get involved! Think of your lens design and submit a digital sketch or mock-up. You don't need a finished lens to submit!

A minimum of 1 and up to 3 designs will be chosen by the Warrior Cats team. 1 Selected Creator may have the opportunity to produce their design into a finished lens, with support and training from our AR Mentor.

  • Design a lens and submit a digital sketch or mock-up of your idea
  • Your lens design should be an immersive and playful experience that people want to share
  • Think outside the box about how to bring Warrior Cats to life. Maybe think about 'which Warrior Cats clan do you belong to?' or Warrior Cats face filters - let your creativity run wild!
  • Your lens could capture one of the following themes:
  • Be inspired by the minimalist graphic style used in the asset packs, but bring your own creative style to your lens! Just be sure to accurately capture each cat's unique colors and features
  • Please avoid the illustrative style used on the Warriors book covers, as Coolabi is not looking for lens designs in this creative style
  • You may include one, or multiple characters or clans in a single lens design. You may include a character and their clan in the same lens design, but please don't include clan icons for characters not in that clan

  • Take inspiration from the clan and character color palettes - you may expand on these with complementary colors
  • You may include the Warrior Cats logo in a subtle way if you wish
  • You may include text if you wish, but please only use American English, and use one of these free-to-use fonts
  • You may suggest sound effects to accompany your lens design if you wish. If you're submitting a digital sketch, just add the sound effect details to the 'Description' section of your submission
  • Your lens should be suitable for everyone, age 9+ to adult
  • The Warrior Cats brand should be subtle, but identifiable in your lens designs (e.g. integrate the character's clan badge into the experience)
  • Keep in mind that your lens design may be produced using Snap Lens Studio, and potentially adapted and produced for use on Instagram or Facebook
  • Submit your lens design digital sketch or mock-up as a JPEG, PNG or video. You do not need to submit a finished lens to this Creative Brief
  • If selected, you may be commissioned and have the opportunity to produce your lens in Snap Lens Studio with guidance from our AR Mentor during one week in June 2020. If commissioned, you will receive an additional incentive of £3,000
Lens Specification
When developing your lens design, keep in mind the capabilities and restrictions of a Snap Lens. If your lens is produced, it will need to adhere to these key points below:
  • The total project limit for a Snap Lens is 4MB
  • Think about compression if your lens is importing textures
  • Keep 3D assets below 10,000 triangles or 5,000 polygons
  • If you use 3D animation, these elements should be under 100 joints and be no longer than 10 seconds
  • You can include SFX or music in your lens design - these should be in MP3 format, mono, and be no longer than 15 seconds
You can read about how to build a Snap Lens here.

If commissioned to produce your lens design, the AR Mentor will provide all the support and guidance you need throughout the production process, so don't worry if you're not 100% sure about the above points!
Warriors is a series of fantasy novels for 8-13-year-olds that follow the adventures of wild cats in their forest and lake homes. The series follows the complex tales of over a thousand Warrior Cats characters, who are divided into six different Clans and territories.

Each with their own set of skills, the six groups - ThunderClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, RiverClan, StarClan and SkyClan - all follow the Warrior Code. The books often reveal tensions between the Clans, and the need for cats to call for guidance from StarClan, which is seen as all-knowing and sacred. It is home to the spirits of the ancestors of the living cats, where borders no longer exist, and the cats of all Clans live in peace.

Following themes of good vs. evil, forbidden love, death, friendship and acceptance, there are currently seven sub-series of Warrior Cats and several super editions and novellas.
