Design Richard Hawley's Guitar Skin
THE BRIEF
Richard Hawley is inviting artists and creators to take inspiration from his brand new Mercury Music Prize shortlisted album 'Standing At The Sky's Edge' to design a brand new Gretsch® Guitar skin that will be presented to Richard.
Sheffield born Hawley released his seventh album 'Standing at the Sky's Edge' in May 2012 to critical acclaim. Returning to his guitar roots, he has produced a modern, psychedelic album. With tracks including 'Leave Your Body Behind You', 'She Brings The Sunlight' and new single, ‘Seek It’, there is plenty to take inspiration from when submitting your designs. The album is out now, order it here.

ABOUT RICHARD HAWLEY
Richard Hawley is a guitarist, singer-songwriter and producer. Gretsch® Guitar fanatic, Richard Hawley has previously worked with musicians, including Hank Marvin, A Girl Called Eddy, Pulp, Longpigs and Jarvis. He played the guitar solo on All Saints' cover version of "Under the Bridge," and co-wrote Robbie Williams' song "Clean" from his debut album.
"I chose the tree design over all the other ideas because it just worked visually on a Gretsch 6120 because of its simplicity. The 6120 is a design classic and is already busy enough to look at but the roots/tree idea works so well as it uses the only "dead" space on the body shape. It also fits with my ideas for the album. The only regret I have is that I won't own a guitar with this fantastic design. It was very hard to choose as there were so many really amazing and beautiful ideas. I think Fred Gretsch would love it as much as I do." - Richard Hawley

HOW RICHARD HAWLEY WILL CHOOSE
Richard Hawley will select from all qualified submissions with special consideration for the top voted entries. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
CREATIVE INVITE GUIDELINES
- Participants must be over 18 years old
- This opportunity is open globally to participants, however please note, travel and accommodation to Richard's gig will not be included
- Participants must use the provided template to create their designs
- Participants must retain their original artwork should they be chosen as a winner
- Designs must be original (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials)
- Participants must include a description about their design
- Inappropriate or harmful submissions will be removed
