Design city inspired bottle bags for a Limited Edition of Absolut Vodka

Thank you for your patience whilst the host runs the checks needed to confirm the final selected designs! The Selected Artists have been working behind the scenes with the Absolut team to ensure the selected designs fit production requirements and are approved by the legal team.

Absolut is famous around the world for its clean, natural taste, and its iconic Vodka bottle, inspired by an 18th century medicine bottle found in an antique store in Stockholm. This year Absolut continues to channel their mission to create a more open world, and love of creative expression by launching a range of Limited Edition premium paper bags across seven markets. The iconic bottle sits inside the paper bag covered in unique artwork that is relevant to the city where it is being sold.

Absolut invites illustrators & designers from around the world to submit a premium paper bag design, inspired by the iconic landscape, rich heritage and vibrant culture of one of seven cities listed below.

Each design should capture one of the following cities: Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Brisbane, Auckland or Dubai. Examples of city landscapes, heritage and culture could include the bustling street food culture in Bangkok, the vibrant nightlife of Brisbane, or the urban metropolis of Kuala Lumpur. Absolut is looking for vibrant, bold, colourful and unique designs that will be eye-catching on-shelf and truly capture the city they represent. Please do not mix the cities together.

Artists should use the paper bag template, downloadable here. Before starting on their design, artists should read the ‘Submission Guidelines’ section below.

A minimum of two (2), and up to seven (7) pieces of work will be selected. Each design will be awarded £3,000 and potentially be produced and sold in the airport of the city it represents, and potentially be promoted through Absolut's social channels. Absolut is looking for a design for each city.
Submission Guidelines
Before starting on your design, please read the following:
  • This opportunity is open globally to creators of at least 25 years of age at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Your design should be inspired by the landscape, heritage or culture of one (1) of these seven (7) cities: Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Brisbane, Auckland or Dubai. Only one city should be represented in a design.
  • Any colour palette may be used in the design, but it should complement the blue 'ABSOLUT' logo.
  • All designs should be in line with the paper bag guidelines and use the 1L paper bag template.
  • Designs should cover all sides of the bag.
  • Designs may incorporate text / typography. Text should be in English or the native language of the city represented in the design. Text in designs should complement the existing text and logos in the template.
  • Take a look at the mood board for each city for inspiration: Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Brisbane, Auckland, Dubai.

  • Designs must not include or allude to alcohol drinking scenarios or dangerous situations.
  • Designs must not include any reference to children.
  • Designs should not include photography.
  • Designs should not include images of real people, but feel free to draw them.
  • Designs should not depict or include any reference to religious symbols, political symbols or moments.
  • Designs must comply with landmark copyright or service marks of a third party or any location (some skylines have protected buildings, please consider before starting your design). For more information on Dubai's restrictions, click here.
  • Each design should be accompanied by a small written caption in English explaining the inspiration and the name of the city depicted in the design. This information should be included in the 'description' field of your submission.

The Career Opportunity
A minimum of two (2), and up to seven (7) pieces of work will be selected by Absolut and Pernod Ricard. The Selected Artists will:
  • Potentially have their design produced into a Limited Edition paper bag design for sale in the airport of the city represented in the design
  • Receive potential exposure for their work across Absolut and Pernod Ricard social media pages
  • Receive £3,000 for each piece selected.
Creative Invite Guidelines
  • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 25 years of age at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, submissions may be featured on Absolut's social media channels with credit given to the artist.
  • Artists should retain their original artwork files in the highest quality possible but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max size 10MB. No photography please.
  • Limit ten (10) submissions per artist or artist team. Each submission should contain only one design but several images of the same design can be uploaded to a submission.
  • Artwork must be original (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials or stock imagery) but can be pre-existing or created especially for this opportunity.
  • For each individual design artists should use the provided template, where artists may show the front and back of their design.
  • Artists should read the design guidelines, and submissions should conform to the specs set out in the document.
  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration and design as well as the city the design represents. Please use the 'Say something about your submission' section within your submission.
  • Designs should refrain from depicting or referencing any religious symbols, polarising political symbols or moments.
  • Please read the "SUBMISSION GUIDELINES" above carefully.
  • Artists that are not selected will not give up any rights to their work, however Absolut and Pernod Ricard have the rights to promote submissions on their channels in connection with this Creative Invite for three (3) months after the announcement of the Selected Artists. All artists will be credited accordingly.
  • Selected Artists will have to sign an Artist Agreement assigning all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Absolut and Pernod Ricard for global usage. The selected designs can still be used for artist's own portfolio purposes with credit given to Absolut as the source.
  • The selected submission may be modified in collaboration with the Selected Artists to accommodate production requirements.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • The Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, guidelines or Official Rules.
  • No purchase necessary to enter.
Absolut and Pernod Ricard will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
