Create an 'ugly' Christmas sweater for Pentatonix

the brief
In celebration of their new holiday album That's Christmas To Me, the highly acclaimed acappella group Pentatonix is calling all graphic designers, fashion designers and artists to create their best interpretation of an 'ugly' Christmas sweater.

Having just released their second full-length Christmas album, "That’s Christmas To Me”, the quintet is feeling very much in the holiday spirit. They want to see your wackiest, craziest, most amusing UGLY Christmas Sweaters. Submissions can be made in the form of a ready to wear sweater, or a graphic design that can be printed onto an already produced sweater/sweatshirt.

The sweaters will need to be ready in time for the band to wear in an upcoming video! Artists should draw inspiration from Pentatonix's musical style, personalities, music videos and background stories and the always cheerful holiday spirit! One sweater will be produced or obtained and worn by a member of the group (you can state which member you made the sweater for in the description of your submission) in a special YouTube recording, with credit given to the designer and broadcasted to their millions of followers.

One artist as selected by Pentatonix will:
  • Have their design worn by one of the members of Pentatonix in an upcoming holiday video that will go to their 50K email subscribers privately on 12/23/14 and then uploaded to their PTX Official YouTube Channel (6.6M subscribers). The video will also be sent to all RCA USA staff members as a holiday message.
  • Receive exposure across Pentatonix's social media channels
  • Receive $1,500 prize money and a shoutout for selected design in the video description on YouTube and email blast on 12/23/14 (over 42K subscribers)
    The voting period is the time to engage your friends, family and supporters to vote for your work! One artist with the highest number of votes will receive:
    • $250
    • An honorable mention in the Pentatonix email blast on 12/23/14
    how pentatonix will choose
    Pentatonix will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules. Their selection will be independent of social votes.

    The Talenthouse community and supporters of entrants, whether on Talenthouse or not, can vote for their favorite submissions during voting week via Facebook and Twitter. The artist with the largest public support will be chosen as the Highest Voted.

    • This opportunity is open to global residents who are at least 18 years of age.
    • All entries must be original work of the participant (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials) but can be pre-existing or created especially for this opportunity.
    • Artists can submit a sketch, graphic illustration, or photograph of their ready-made sweater design.
    • Artists should retain their original artwork files (in 300dpi) but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max size 5MB.
    • The winning submissions may be modified to accommodate production requirements.
    • The copyright in and to the selected submissions shall be owned by Pentatonix.

    • In case a ready-made sweater is selected, the artist must ship the sweater to Pentatonix. RCA Music has agreed to cover the shipping costs associated with getting the sweater to Pentatonix.
    • Participants must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
    • All submissions will feature as part of a global gallery with public voting on Facebook and Twitter.
    • Talenthouse reserves the right to disqualify artists who we believe are cheating the voting system as this is against the spirit of the Creative Invite.
    • Inappropriate, offensive, harmful or submissions that do not fit the brief will be removed.
    • No purchase necessary to enter.
