Penny is an advertising guru, having worked in the advertising industry for twenty years. She joined Boden in
September 2013, with the remit of building on the brand’s heritage to deliver
sustainability and growth, while at the same time moving its image and offering forward for new audiences.
Responsible for all aspects of the brand, Penny quickly took to the task in
hand, helping to hone a refreshing new voice and look in Creative Services.

Johnnie spent much of his teens hunting down vintage tweed overcoats and Converse high-tops in Portobello Road, and cut his teeth as Men’s Fashion Editor of Harpers & Queen’s teenage edition in August 1977. Almost fifteen years later, miserable with his city job, and with the support of his wife Sophie, Johnnie set up Boden; with the aim of creating a brand that gave customers in the UK – and later, beyond – what they wanted: accessible, beautifully made, original products with a witty British edge.
