Design a Limited Edition Kleenex® Collection Tissue Box

THE BRIEF

As the UK’s leading tissue brand, Kleenex is committed to creating products that are not only functional but also feature stylish and trend-led packaging designs that you can be proud to display in your home. Teaming up with design expert Kelly Hoppen MBE, Kleenex invites artists and designers to create fashionable, unique and innovative box designs for the chance to see them on-shelf as one of three boxes available to buy in the Autumn/Winter design refresh.

The designs should take inspiration from Kelly’s forecast of the key interiors trends for the season, be original, stand-out and most importantly, be something that everyone would be proud to display in their home.Participants must use the template provided. A selection of current and previous Collection Cube designs can be viewed on the new Kleenex Shop here.

The target audience for the Limited Edition Collection Cubes is women aged 18-30 years old, but this is not prescriptive and the designs should have universal appeal.

ABOUT KLEENEX
Within the Kleenex family, style conscious shoppers seek out the Collection Cubes as affordable home accessories that feature fun, innovative and trend-led designs to complement existing home decor. Available in three distinct styles, the boxes can be used to accessorise the home and appeal to different tastes and personalities. The designs are refreshed every Spring and Autumn.
THE WINNER SELECTION

All submissions will face public voting on Talenthouse and the highest voted will win £250.

Kelly Hoppen and Kleenex will select a further 10 submissions, and put these to a public vote on the Kleenex UK and Ireland Facebook page, giving Kleenex fans the chance to choose the three designs that they would like to see on-shelf.

The designers of the three designs selected will each receive £1,000, see their designs on shelf and be featured across Kleenex UK's official marketing channels.

Meet KELLY HOPPEN MBE
With 37 years experience at the forefront of the design world, Kelly Hoppen MBE is one of the most celebrated British designers in the industry. Kelly’s ever-evolving style is underpinned by a subtly coordinated fusion of East meets West; clean lines and neutral tones.

Kelly puts her stamp on the homes, yachts and jets of private clients, as well as select commercial projects all over the world and is the author of seven design books to date. Devoted to making her design ethos accessible to the masses, and keen to champion design talent, Kelly also shares her extensive knowledge in her popular Kelly Hoppen Design School.

"The design trends forecast for the home this year are all about texture and colour.

When designing something as functional as a tissue box it needs to work in two ways, both as a functional product and also as an item that sits quietly next to a bed, on a side table, on a dressing table or essentially anywhere within your home. It is an object that needs to blend into your home but is stylish at the same time.

Ikat design will also be massive this year, think bold designs which are incredibly textural. The beauty of Ikat is that it gives sharp spurts of colour to a neutral base. It gives a space a sense of identity and character but can be personalised to your taste. The colour palette is very neutral with burst of deep hues; taupe; white; cream; greys; mouse; mocha with splashes of charcoal and royal purples; reds and burnt oranges.

Shiny surfaces; lacquers; marbled effects; lace and chain mail are also going to be huge looks but used by layering over neutral colours; think of how amazing a cushion would look in wonderful linen with lace or chain mail or gauze or filigree cut outs.

Cubism is also a fantastic way to break up spaces either via movable walls and screens or the simple and layering of colours and textures, think Mondrian art.”

CREATIVE INVITE GUIDELINES
  • Include an explanation of your work in the summary box
  • Must use the template provided
  • Create a fun box that people will love to have in their homes (designs should take inspiration from Kelly Hoppen's forecast of the key interior trends for the season)
  • Eligibility: Over 18s only / UK residents (if you are not from the UK you understand that you are not eligible for prizing)
  • Designs must be submitted as a JPG or PNG 5MB Max in a RGB colourscale format. Designs must not exceed 6 colours (CMYK and two PANTONE colours) Plinth and Oval designs should be selected from PANTONE spot colour pallet. Note Kleenex reserves the right to reselect the colours of the plinth and oval to bring the design into established Kleenex guidelines
  • All design elements must be 'family-friendly' in nature
  • Please retain a high res version of your submission if selected you will be required to provide high res files which will be worked with by Kleenex’s design team to create the final product
  • Designs must be original (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials)
  • Please leave up to date contact details
  • Inappropriate, offensive, harmful or submissions that do not fit the brief will be removed
  • No purchase is necessary to enter Kleenex reserve the right to make modifications to the winning designs

HOW KELLY HOPPEN AND KLEENEX WILL CHOOSE

Kelly Hoppen and Kleenex will select from all qualified submissions with special consideration for the top voted entries. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
