Exclusively in movie theaters September 16th, witness the most exceptional female warriors to ever live. The Woman King tells the remarkable story of the Agojie, the all-female unit of warriors who protected the African Kingdom of Dahomey during the 1800s.

Inspired by powerful true events, The Woman King follows heroine General Nanisca (Oscar®-winner Viola Davis) as she leads the next generation into battle against an enemy determined to destroy their very way of life. No capes or superpowers here–just fierce determination, willpower, and true grit.

To amplify the release of the movie, Columbia Tristar Marketing Group, Inc. (CTMG) wants to collaborate with YOU on the official campaign:

The judges at CTMG are looking for captivating poster and billboard artwork that will appeal to all global audiences.

  • Up to 10 pieces of artwork will be chosen as Selected Creators.
  • Each Selected Creator will receive $2000 and potentially have their work featured across the movie’s marketing campaign, including social accounts, print materials, and merchandise.

  • Your submission should showcase Nanisca and the Agojie’s fight against enemies who are determined to violate the Agojie’s honor and destroy their way of life. Your artwork should inspire true heroism and capture the warrior spirit of the all-female unit of the Agojie...

  • Highlight the bond of the Agojie and their tireless training to be the most exceptional warriors

  • Nanisca's fight for the Kingdom of Dahomey creates an empowering and action-filled story packed with both epic battles and dramatic tellings of the tribe's untold history. We want to highlight the bravery and fierceness of the tribe, who protect the king and kingdom, in a cinematic lens.

  • Your submission should pay homage to the foundational themes of The Woman King. Key themes & narratives include:

    • The strength of the all-female military unit

    • Nanisca's leadership

    • The epic nature of the battles

    • Historically inspired costumes

    • Unique weapons and skilled warriors

    • The setting of the Kingdom of Dahomey

  • Your work should reflect the following tone & feel: gritty, visceral, and dramatic with empowering action that showcases the untold history of The Dahomey Kingdom and the Agojie warriors

  • Please submit your work according to the following specifications:

    • Static, high res, PNG/JPEG files, maximum 10MB, in one of the following orientation formats:

      • Vertical: 4 x 5 or 9 x 16

  • You are encouraged to submit timelapse videos of your artistic process as well!
    • Recommended video length: 9-15 seconds (maximum 60 seconds)
    • Video Aspect Ratio: 9 x 16, vertical

  • You must also retain a high-resolution version of your submission in the format below (this will be delivered if your work is selected):

    • 6072 x 9000, with width bleed = 7200 x 9000

    • CMYK and RGB

    • 300dpi

    • JPEG + PSD Layered Project File

  • DO:

    • Your artwork must be an original digital illustration

    • Your artwork must prominently feature Viola Davis as Agojie warrior general, Nanisca, or Nanisca leading her warriors

    • Any portrayals of Viola Davis as Nanisca, Sheila Atim as Amenza, or Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Santo Ferreira shall be subject to cast approval, if selected

    • The Official Title Treatment and credit must be included in your submission(s)

    • Tell us about your creative process and inspiration via the 'Description' field in your submission

  • DON’T:

    • Do not include any reference to religious symbols, political symbols or monuments

    • Do not feature nudity, pornography, vulgarities, profanity or curse words

    • Do not show or imply drunkenness, irresponsible drinking, or inebriation of any kind.

    • Do not use third party fonts, images, or other resources in your work

The Woman King, starring Viola Davis, is an incredible, untold story inspired by true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.


Up to 10 pieces of work will be chosen by CTMG as Selected Creators. Each will:

  • Potentially have their work used across CTMG film, social, digital and wider marketing channels

  • Receive $2000 for each piece selected

  • Who is eligible: This opportunity is open to global creators. Creators must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of CTMG and Talenthouse IP, LLC are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.

  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission) except for the material provided by CTMG, provided your work is digitally illustrated.

  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Please retain your original layered artwork files in the highest quality possible.

  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your work.

  • Up to 10 Selected Creators will be chosen by CTMG and awarded $2000 for their final artwork, assigning full usage rights to CTMG.

  • By participating in the Creative Brief, each Selected Creator hereby irrevocably assigns to CTMG all rights, title and interest in and to the Work including all results and proceeds thereof including all copyrights therein and thereto and all renewals, extensions, and restorations thereof, and all rights to exploit the same throughout the universe, in perpetuity (but in any event for not less than the period of copyright and any renewals, extensions, and restorations thereof), in any and all media, and by any and all means, manner, content delivery mechanisms or technology, whether now known or hereafter devised.

  • All Entrants must agree to the terms of the Assignment Agreement upon submission.

  • All Selected Creators shall agree to the Assignment Agreement during the verification process of the Creative Brief. The Selected Creators are required to sign an Assignment Agreement. In the event the Selected Creator fails or refuses to sign an Assignment Agreement, said Selected Creator will be disqualified.
  • For all Creators, CTMG hereby grants a perpetual limited non-exclusive right and license to the Creator’s respective Work, solely for use in Creator’s personal portfolio used solely for showcasing Creator’s work.

  • CTMG has the right to use all submissions across their social media channels and online platforms (non-exclusive, global, limited, royalty-free license).

  • Please provide an active email address when registering with Talenthouse to ensure you can be contacted should you be selected.

  • During the Selection Period, Talenthouse will reach out to potential winners. You must respond to Talenthouse within 48 hours or else you will forfeit all incentives. For the verification, you will be asked to provide the original files of your work and a scan of your ID.

  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or the Official Rules.

CTMG will choose the artworks which best highlight the film’s protagonist. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Talenthouse Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.

All eligible submissions received will be judged according to the following judging criteria: substance; creativity; originality, and adherence to the film’s themes.

Subject to availability, guest judges, such as filmmakers or talent, may aid CTMG in the selection process, as specified by CTMG in its sole discretion.

The judging criteria are based on Creativity (30%), Originality (30%), and Overall Understanding of the Theme (40%).
