Create thumb stopping artwork for method that captures the joy of their fragrances

A note from method:

When creating your designs focus on the artwork being premium, stylish and elegant but still capturing the bold nature of the method look and feel. These are high-end products. Think of it like a perfume ad with sophisticated appeal. Remember to stay clear of the animation and static imagery coming across as too cute or childish. Please take a look at the mood board which has been slightly updated.

So you have time to make any edits to your work we are extending the submission period by 2 days, this will not affect submissions that have already been uploaded to this Creative Brief, but you are welcome to submit more artwork if you wish. The new submission deadline is November 20, 5pm GMT!

Now more than ever, while we are all stuck at home, people need a little joy. method is on a mission to spread joy to homes far and wide in everything that they do. Join their mission to spark a smile, and bring joy and energy to their campaign #spreadjoynotgerms.

Create bold, beautiful and uplifting moving and static artwork, that brings to life the joyful, vivid fragrance experience of their 2 products: Wild Rhubarb and Peach Blossom anti-bac cleaner.

A minimum of 4 and up to 6 pieces of work will be chosen by method as Selected Creators. Each piece of static artwork will receive £1,500, and animation work will receive £1,750.

Things to Consider
  • Create visually beautiful, thumb-stopping artwork that captures the pure joy experienced when using these new method products:
  • Create your artwork as a static illustration or graphic design, or a 5-10 sec animation
  • Consider how to show the product's fragrance in a bold, unique and creative way - think beyond just representing the fragrance notes, capture the experience and joy!
  • Only include one product in your submission
  • For static submissions, your artwork should be created in AI or PSD, aspect ratio 1:1 (min 1080px square), RGB, created as a layered artwork file
  • For animation submissions, your artwork should be created in After Effects or PSD, aspect ratio 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9, RGB, be 5-10 seconds long, and include the bottle in the first 3 seconds and the method logo in the closing frame in a prominent and central location. Download assets here

  • Follow method's product color palette - you may add complementary colors as you wish
  • You may consider incorporating the petal illustrations used on pack within your own artwork, though this is not mandatory. These can be found in the asset pack

  • Keep in mind your submissions should be suitable for method's social channels, and may also be used on OOH across the UK
  • Your artwork should appeal to a method's target consumer, the social spender, who is house-proud, sensorially-led, aspirational aesthetes with a discerning eye
  • Consider method's values & style which is bold (not twee), lust-worthy (not off-the-shelf) and quirky (think anti-category). With that in mind, we are looking for equally bold, lust-worthy and quirky work. Read more about these in this Brand Principle Guide
  • Don’t forget that method is a cleaning brand, so consider how this may play a part in the work (but this should not be the focus)
  • Don't include people in your submission
  • Don't include making specific claims about method products (e.g. how they’re made, how they work etc). Please don’t use method’s products contrary to their indicated use
  • Don't include references to any dangerous situations, other brands, show/imply alcohol or drunkenness, or anything violent or offensive
  • Tell us about your creative process and inspiration via the 'Description' field in your submission
  • Updated November 10, 2020: We kindly ask you do not share the artwork you submit to this brief on your social channels or anywhere online

THE INCENTIVES
A minimum of 4 pieces and up to 6 pieces of work will be chosen by method as Selected Creators. Each will:
  • Potentially have their work used across method social, digital and wider marketing channels
  • Receive £1,500 for each static piece or £1,750 for each animation piece selected
CREATIVE BRIEF GUIDELINES
  • Updated November 10, 2020: method kindly ask you do not share the artwork you submit to this brief on your social channels or anywhere online.
  • Who is eligible: This opportunity is open globally and you need to be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of method and TLNT (Talenthouse, Ello and Zooppa) are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Limit 15 submissions per creator or teams.
  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, your submission maybe featured on method's social media channels with credit given to you.
  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission) except for the material provided by method. All rights in and to the material provided are reserved by method.
  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Your static work must be submitted in JPEG or PNG format, max. size 10 MB. Please retain your original layered artwork files in the highest quality possible. Please no photography. Your animations work must be submitted in MP4 format, max. size 10 MB. Please retain your original source files in the highest quality possible.
  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your work. Please use the 'Say something about your submission' section within your submission.
  • We advise you to carefully read 'Things to Consider' section above.
  • If you are not selected, you will retain ownership in the original portions of your work. However, by submitting you hereby grant method a worldwide, non-exclusive, digital license from Creative Brief launch, for up to 3 months after the Selected Creator Announcement, to use your submitted work across their various online and social media platforms. If your work is used, you will be credited accordingly.
  • If you are a ‘Selected Creator’, you will be required to assign a European, exclusive, digital, 3-year license in and to the selected work to method for the specified incentives. Upon selection, you will be required to sign a License Agreement and the Awardee Agreement. Please note that submissions can be used by you for personal, non-commercial and portfolio use only.
  • If selected, you may be asked to modify your work to fit production requirements.
  • Please provide an active email address when registering with Talenthouse to ensure you can be contacted should you be selected.
  • During the Selection Period, Talenthouse will reach out to those being shortlisted. You must respond to Talenthouse within forty-eight (48) hours or else you will forfeit all incentives. For the verification, you will be asked to provide the original files of your work and a scan of your ID.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or Official Rules (see below).
  • No purchase necessary to enter or be selected.
HOW METHOD WILL CHOOSE
method will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.

The judging criteria are based on Creativity (30%), Originality (30%) and Overall Understanding of the theme (40%).
