Create artwork inspired by the upcoming film Morbius

Swooping into cinemas this January 2022, Morbius is about to have you on the edge of your seat!


To amplify the launch of the upcoming film, Columbia Tristar Marketing Group, Inc. (CTMG) is creating an art activation leading up to the release and they want to collaborate with YOU!

We’re on the hunt for one-of-a-kind digitally illustrated poster artwork inspired by the latest trailer for Morbius. This creative static artwork should showcase the conflict within Dr. Michael Morbius, as played by Oscar winner Jared Leto, along with his recently-found dark, transformative, powers.

A total of Five [5] works will be selected by CTMG. Selected Creators will receive $2,000 in exchange for their works, which will potentially be featured on social media, physical posters, or used as digital art to promote the film.




THINGS TO CONSIDER
  • Key themes to include in your artwork:

    • Dr. Michael Morbius’ fight for survival creates a complex story filled with duality and danger.

    • His inner struggle between healing and harming creates a unique visual aesthetic (and tension) that will be underscored with bold type text and emotionally contrasting colors.

    • Showcase Morbius' innate gifts and transformative dark powers, differentiating this origin story from other comic book films.

  • Your artwork should focus on one or more of the following character traits of Dr. Michael Morbius as he is transformed from “healer” to “hunter”:

    • Flight

    • Echolocation

    • Wall climbing

    • Super strength

    • Heightened agility

    • Super speed / “bullet time” reflexes

    • Claws

  • Your artwork should embody the following tone: Dark, visceral, and intense

  • Please submit artwork according to the following specifications:

    • Static, high res, PNG/JPEG files, maximum 10MB, in one of the following orientation formats:

      • Portrait: 27 inches x 40 inches at 300dpi

      • Landscape: 40 inches x 27 inches at 300dpi




  • Your artwork should appeal to global audiences, ages 13 and up.

  • You are also encouraged to submit time lapse videos of your creative process!

  • DO reference the Official Trailer for inspiration!

  • DO utilize the following assets in our Brief Materials Folder in your piece.

    • Official Title Treatment

    • Images - For visual inspiration only

  • DO NOT include any reference to religious symbols, political symbols or monuments. There must be no nudity or pornography, curse words or vulgarities.

  • DO NOT submit any third-party materials, photography or photoshop cutouts of images to this brief.

    • Your work must be digitally illustrated.

  • DO NOT portray Michael Morbius or other characters as featured in prior Marvel iterations. Please use only the Official Trailer and provided assets within this brief as visual inspiration.

  • DO NOT portray any additional talent likeness from the film.

  • CTMG would love for you to share your work on social media throughout the submission period! Please follow the below guidelines for posting your work:

ABOUT MORBIUS

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.

INCENTIVES


Five [5] pieces of work will be chosen by Columbia Tristar Marketing Group, Inc. as Selected Creators. Each will:

  • Potentially have their work used across Sony social, digital and wider marketing channels

  • Receive $2000 for each piece selected


CREATIVE BRIEF GUIDELINES
  • Who is eligible: This opportunity is open to global creators. Creators must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of CTMG and Talenthouse IP, LLC (Talenthouse, Ello and Zooppa) are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.

  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission) except for the material provided by CTMG, provided your work is digitally illustrated.

  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Please retain your original layered artwork files in the highest quality possible.

  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your work.

  • 5 x Selected Creators and will receive $2000 for their final artwork, assigning full usage rights to CTMG.

  • By participating in the Creative Brief, each Selected Creator hereby irrevocably assigns to CTMG all rights, title and interest in and to the Work including all results and proceeds thereof including all copyrights therein and thereto and all renewals, extensions, and restorations thereof, and all rights to exploit the same throughout the universe, in perpetuity (but in any event for not less than the period of copyright and any renewals, extensions, and restorations thereof), in any and all media, and by any and all means, manner, content delivery mechanisms or technology, whether now known or hereafter devised.


  • All Selected Creators shall agree to the Assignment Agreement during the verification process of the Creative Brief. The Selected Creators are required to sign an Assignment Agreement and Release Form. In the event the Selected Creator fails or refuses to sign an Assignment Agreement, said Selected Creator will be disqualified.

  • For all Creators, CTMG hereby grants a perpetual limited non-exclusive right and license to the Creator’s respective Work, solely for use in Creator’s personal portfolio used solely for showcasing Creator’s work.

  • CTMG has the right to use all submissions across their social media channels and online platforms (non-exclusive, global, limited, royalty-free license). Creators will be fully credited when their work is used.

  • Please provide an active email address when registering with Talenthouse to ensure you can be contacted should you be selected.

  • During the Selection Period, Talenthouse will reach out to those being shortlisted. You must respond to Talenthouse within 48 hours or else you will forfeit all incentives. For the verification, you will be asked to provide the original files of your work and a scan of your ID.

  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or the Official Rules.

  • No purchase necessary to enter or be selected.


HOW CTMG WILL CHOOSE

CTMG will choose the artworks which best highlight the film’s protagonist. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Talenthouse Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.


All eligible submissions received will be judged according to the following equally weighted judging criteria: substance; creativity; originality, and adherence to the Morbius theme.


Guest judges, such as filmmakers or talent, may aid CTMG in the selection process, as specified by CTMG in its sole discretion.


The judging criteria are based on Creativity (30%), Originality 30%), and Overall Understanding of the theme (40%).
