This May, Call of Duty ® has partnered with Legendary Entertainment to create Operation Monarch, a one-of-a-kind in-game event for Call of Duty ®: Warzone fans across the globe!

Get ready for worlds to collide in the Call of Duty universe, as this battle features two formidable rivals–Godzilla and Kong!

In support of the event, Call of Duty would love to recruit YOU as a part of the official campaign:

Create digitally illustrated posters inspired by Call of Duty: Warzone’s in-game event ‘Operation Monarch’--featuring Godzilla vs. Kong!

Five [5] Selected Creators will be chosen by the team at Call of Duty, and each will receive $2,000 USD per work.

Additionally, selected works may be featured on official marketing channels.

Operation Monarch: Details
  • WHEN: ‘Operation Monarch’ will be available for a limited time only from May 11th - May 25th, 2022 as part of Season 3 of Call of Duty®: Vanguard and Warzone.

  • HOW: Players will get to battle alongside the TITANS Kong and Godzilla on the Warzone map, “Caldera” in a special limited time mode which is set in WWII.

  • WHERE: The current Warzone map of “Caldera” will be the setting of the in-game event (and all submissions!)

  • JOIN THE DRAFT: Check out the instructions and rules below to submit to this Brief and share your creations on social! Report to Caldera on May 11th when you're ready to join the mission...

    *Debrief: You don't have to be an artist to play the game, but special honors will be given to recruits displaying exemplary artistry in this creative battle. Best of luck, soldiers!

THINGS TO CONSIDER
  • Create digitally illustrated posters inspired by the Call of Duty: Warzone in-game event ‘Operation Monarch’--featuring Godzilla vs. Kong!
    • Your submission should feature Godzilla and Kong within the Call of Duty universe–Godzilla and Kong should feel embedded into the recognizable “world” of Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific

    • Your submission should reference only Godzilla and Kong as they appear in the film Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)

  • Additional context on 'Operation Monarch' and the MonsterVerse:
    • All TITAN powers are biological (not magical / not otherworldly)

    • Monarch doesn’t seek to destroy or eradicate TITANS. Their organizational mission statement is “Discovery and Defense in a time of Monsters”
  • Your submission should include the following key themes & tones:

    • What happens when Monsters come to Warzone Pacific?

    • The squad having fun

    • Epic, explosive battles

    • Legendary rivalry

    • Exciting action scenes

    • Tone: Dark, Gritty, Ominous, Epic, Badass

  • Please submit artwork according to the following specifications:

    • Digitally illustrated, high res, PNG/JPEG files, maximum 10MB, in the following orientation format:

      • Aspect Ratio: 4 x 5, vertical

      • CMYK color, 300 DPI

    • You are encouraged to submit time lapse videos of your artistic process as well!

      • Recommended video length: 9-15 seconds (maximum 60 seconds)

      • Video Aspect Ratio: 9 x 16, vertical

  • Your work should appeal to global Call of Duty: Warzone and Battle Royale players and fans of Godzilla vs. Kong

  • You may submit up to 10 times

  • Reference imagery should only be used for inspiration, and not used directly in your work

  • Tell us about your creative process and inspiration via the 'Description' field in your submission

  • Please make sure any use of “TITAN/TITANS” are capitalized (TITAN/TITANS)

  • Do reference Godzilla and Kong as they appear in the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong

    • Kong should be drawn to 85% the size of Godzilla. (Kong’s head should reach Godzilla’s chin)

    • Godzilla is not green

    • Do not depict Godzilla or King Kong character (i.e. Mothra, Ghidorah, Rodan) from any other iterations or properties apart from the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong
  • Do include approved Vanguard WWII weapons & operators from the Call of Duty universe in your submission, if relevant to your creative direction

  • Do depict soldiers and people in your submission, if relevant to your creative direction

    • If you depict soldiers and/or people, they must represent current Vanguard Operators in Warzone

  • Do include the official title treatment for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 in your submission

  • Do not depict Godzilla or King Kong characters from any other iterations or properties apart from the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong

  • Do not depict the likeness of talent from the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong

  • Do not create or depict additional weaponry, skins, or vehicles that do not already exist within the approved list from the Call of Duty universe

  • Do not depict Godzilla or Kong as “dead” or “killed”

  • Do not depict Godzilla or Kong killing people

    • These characters do not seek to kill people, though people may die from being caught in the “crossfire” of their battle (e.g., by stomping)

  • Do not reference King Kong by any name other than “Kong”

  • Do not use culturally appropriative elements within the design (such as inappropriate Japanese elements / language for Godzilla)

  • Do not feature any references to Nazis in your submission

  • Do not show or imply drunkenness or irresponsible drinking

  • Do not include phrases with any profanity or offensive language

  • Do not reference any other brands in your artwork

  • Do not include references to any real people, dangerous situations, other brands, show/imply alcohol or drunkenness, or anything offensive

  • Do not include statements or situations based on religious or political stances

  • Do not use third party fonts, images, or other resources in your work


PROFILE: KONG
  • Kong is shorter than Godzilla (337 ft. vs. 393 as of GvK)

  • Kong has no biological powers, just sheer primal strength, speed and agility

  • Kong can wield large objects like melee weapons

  • Kong is the last of his kind

  • Kong has never been off Skull Island (prior to the events of Godzilla vs. Kong)

  • He is the alpha TITAN on Skull Island

  • Do not use the word ‘King’ before Kong


PROFILE: GODZILLA
  • Godzilla's main weapon is its biological Heat Ray. However, Godzilla is extremely strong and durable, too

  • Godzilla can never be depicted holding any external weapon

  • Godzilla is the only of its kind and is King of the Monsters

  • Godzilla is capable of living (and fighting) in both water and on land
  • Godzilla can not be shown eating or drinking anything

  • Godzilla does not talk and it can never be implied that it is speaking

  • Godzilla has no known weaknesses (e.g., Kryptonite to Superman)

  • Godzilla does not jump, run, or fly

  • Terminology such as "radioactive", "nuclear" or "atomic" are not to be used in relation to Godzilla

  • Using the letters "ZILLA" to make a word (i.e. Gunzilla) is forbidden

CREATIVE BRIEF GUIDELINES
  • Who is eligible: This opportunity is open globally, with restrictions. You need to be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of Activision and Talenthouse (Talenthouse, Ello and Zooppa) are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.

  • Limit 10 submissions per creator or teams.

  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, your submission may be featured on Activision's social media channels with credit given to you.

  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission) except for the material provided by Activision, provided your work is entirely digitally illustrated. All rights in and to the material provided are reserved by Activision.

  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Your work must be submitted in JPEG or PNG format, max. size 10 MB. Please retain your original layered artwork files in PSD/AI format in the highest quality possible. Please no photography. Please no hand-drawn or hand-painted work.

  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your work. Please use the 'Say something about your submission' section within your submission.

  • We advise you to carefully read the 'Things to Consider' section above.

  • Upon submission, you must confirm that you have read and agreed to the License Agreement.

  • If you are not selected, you will retain ownership only in the original portions of your work. However, by submitting you, hereby grant Activision and Legendary a worldwide, non-exclusive, digital license from Creative Brief launch, for up to 1 year after the Selected Creator Announcement, to use your submitted work across their various online and social media platforms. If your work is used, you will be credited accordingly.


  • Ownership of all copyright and trademark rights in or to the movie Godzilla vs. Kong and the characters and elements featured within the movie shall belong to Toho for the Toho Characters (i.e., Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, and any other Toho characters) and to Legendary for the Legendary IP (i.e., titles, storylines, characters and all other elements as they appear in the movie, excluding the Toho Characters). Any and all additions to, new renderings, modifications, or embellishments of, the Toho Characters and Legendary IP shall be and remain the property of Toho for the Toho Characters and Legendary for the Legendary IP.

  • If you are a ‘Selected Creator’, you will be required to assign all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Activision for the specified incentives. Upon selection, you will be required to sign a License Agreement, Rights Release, and an Awardee Agreement. Please note that submissions can be used by you for personal, non-commercial and portfolio use only.

  • Please provide an active email address when registering with Talenthouse to ensure you can be contacted should you be selected.

  • During the Selection Period, Talenthouse will reach out to those being shortlisted. You must respond to Talenthouse within forty-eight (48) hours or else you will forfeit all incentives. For the verification, you will be asked to provide the original files of your work and a scan of your ID.

  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or Official Rules.

  • No purchase necessary to enter or be selected.

  • You now have the option to open up an ElloU bank account to get paid if you are a national and passport holder of one of these countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden. ElloU will be the cheapest service for you to pay and receive money. You can read more here and can download the ElloU app from the App Store or Google Play by searching for ElloU. If ElloU does not apply to you, we can still pay your incentive by bank transfer (no cost to you) or PayPal (you will pay a 4% fee).

HOW ACTIVISION WILL CHOOSE

Activision will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.


The judging criteria are based on Creativity (35%), Originality (35%) and Overall Understanding of the theme (30%).
