Be part of a taste revolution - cold brew coffee meets sparkling lemonade!

Mövenpick invites graphic designers and illustrators around the world to create packaging design ideas (slim can) for the new sparkling coffee lemonade in four different flavors, to be launched 2018/2019.

The classic Mövenpick coffee target group, is based in the most sophisticated coffee drinking nations, Germany and Switzerland. In order to convince those coffee lovers, Mövenpick is looking for one of a kind design ideas - your ideas! This new product establishes a completely new category of carbonated cold coffee beverages and addresses an open minded audience between 20-45 years old. Today they have grown to like the taste of coffee but are searching for new fun ways to enjoy their caffeine kick.

The Mövenpick team looks for out of the box and innovative designs that combine the best of two worlds, the aromatic taste of freshly brewed coffee and the edgy flavor combinations such as “ginger and lime”. The design should emphasize the premium look and feel of Mövenpick and should add a special twist.

Mövenpick and the jury will choose one Selected Artist who will receive €4,000 for one (1) fully designed flavor and three (3) flavors roughly sketched. The Selected Artist will also roll out the designs for all four flavors together with Mövenpick and receive an additional €2,000. Furthermore, two Finalists will receive €500 each.
Submission Guidelines
Before starting on your design, please read the following:
  • Each submission should consist of one (1) fully designed Sparkling Coffee „Ginger-Lime“ can, which should be created by using the provided rolled-out template and according to the specifications below. Additionally, the three (3) other flavors (defined below) should be sketched as a range next to each other on can mock-ups to give an idea of the look and feel of the whole product category.
  • The four flavors are the following:
    • Ginger-Lime
    • Strawberry-Lime
    • Pineapple-Coconut (please use the German equivalent: Ananas-Kokos)
    • Elderflower-Lime (please use the German equivalent: Holunder-Limette)
  • Before starting your design, please read the guidelines for the 250ml aluminum slim can production carefully. Find the guidelines here.
  • The fully designed flavor "Ginger-Lime“ should include the following:
    • The Mövenpick logo, should be placed at the top of the can.
    • Product Name should be present on the can: “Sparkling Coffee” + Flavor e.g. Sparkling Coffee Ginger-Lime.
    • “Sugarfree” should be visible on the front.
    • “100% Arabica Coffee” should be visible but can be small.
    • Resolution should be at least 200 dpi.


  • You can use the brand colors gold (P8383C) and blue (P2728C) but it is not mandatory.
  • The flavor should be reflected in the general color (e.g. Ginger-Lime with brown/beige or combination brown/beige-green). All flavors should be clearly differentiated with regards to color and name.
  • The design should visually communicate the premium character of the product and transport the idea of a “Sparkling-coffee-lemonade”. The consumer should easily understand what to expect (cold brew coffee, fruity flavors, carbonated, etc.).
  • If you want, you can include a bird as a graphic element in your design - either the original Mövenpick bird (no change in color) or the Origami bird (border color can be changed to white instead of blue). Please note, that you can't use both at the same time in your design. The birds should not be flipped horizontally or vertically, only the angle can slightly be changed.
  • The visual language should be light and friendly.
  • The finishing of the can must be matt and no relief/3D technique possible.
  • The packaging should stand out in the shelf next to soft drinks (Coca Cola, Fanta, Red Bull Organics, etc.) and energy drinks (Red Bull, Monster, etc.) but should clearly be positioned as a carbonated cold coffee beverage and not as soft or energy drink.
  • Designs should not include photography.
  • Each submission should be accompanied by a small written caption in English explaining the inspiration and design. This information should be included in the 'description' field of your submission.

The Career Opportunity
One (1) Selected Artist, as chosen by the jury and Mövenpick, will:
  • Shape the face of a completely new category: carbonated cold coffee beverages
  • Receive potential exposure across Mövenpick's social media channel
  • Receive €4,000
  • Receive €2,000 for finalizing the four designs according to Mövenpick's specifications

Kevin Mohler

Coffee Innovation Manager and Barista at Mövenpick

Kevin Mohler is not your average tattooed and bearded hipster barista but THE most passionate Coffee Geek you can find. Indeed, “he wasn’t searching for coffee, but coffee found him”. Following his calling, Kevin immersed himself in the world of coffee with all its facets, from the origin of the coffee bean, to different brewing techniques, continuously seeking the next perfect cup of coffee. He avidly develops exciting new coffee products for companies like Mövenpick and imparts his knowledge on how to handle the beans and brew the perfect cup of coffee. And with this passion and drive, he won the 2017 Swiss Cup Tasting Championship and can now proudly call himself Swiss Coffee Cuptasting Champion 2017. Not only is he among the Top 5 Swiss Baristas, but also one of the Top 20 Cuptasters of the World. It would be an understatement to say, Kevin knows a lot about coffee. Kevin lives and breathes coffee.

Ou Colombo

Senior Innovation Manager at Mövenpick

As an avid foodie, Ou Colombo is always on the hunt for the next food trend and especially eager to try every coffee, from ice-drip coffee to beetroot latte. She lives by the credo “everything is worth trying at least once” and is convinced to convert even the biggest coffee adversaries and turn them into avid coffee junkies. Having worked in the food industry for the past 8 years, she is more than ready to take on the challenge, in her position as Senior Product Innovations Manager at Mövenpick, to shake the core of our traditional coffee drinking belief systems and start a new coffee revolution, one sparkling coffee drink at a time.
Creative Invite Guidelines
  • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Limit ten (10) submissions per artist or artist team.
  • Each submission should consist of one (1) fully executed design of the Sparkling Coffee „Ginger-Lime“ flavour by using the provided rolled-out template. The other three (3) flavors can be roughly sketched on slim can mock-ups to give an idea of the look and feel of the whole category. Please make yourself familiar with the can guidelines provided here.
  • Each submission should be accompanied by a small written caption in English explaining the inspiration and design. This information should be included in the 'description' field of your submission.
  • Artwork must be original (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials or stock imagery).
  • Artists should retain their original artwork files in the highest quality possible (min. 200 dpi) but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max size 10MB. No photography please.
  • Please note that all rights in the material provided (logos, template, etc.) are reserved by Mövenpick.
  • Please read the "SUBMISSION GUIDELINES" above carefully.
  • The selected submission may be modified in collaboration with the Selected Artist to accommodate production requirements.
  • Artists that are not selected as well as the Finalists will not give up any rights to the original portions of their work, however Mövenpick has the rights to promote their work on their channels in connection with this Creative Invite for three (3) months after the Selected Artist is announced. All artists will be credited accordingly.
  • The Selected Artist will have to sign an Artist Agreement assigning all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Mövenpick for global usage. The selected design can still be used for artist's own portfolio purposes with credit given to Mövenpick as the source.
  • The Selected Artist must roll out all four flavor designs based on the feedback provided from Mövenpick by November 14, 2018.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • The Selected Artist must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, guidelines or Official Rules.
  • No purchase necessary to enter.
How Mövenpick will choose
Mövenpick and the jury will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
