The world’s learning company, Pearson, is inviting composers and music-makers from around the world to create music that captures the joy of learning.

Pearson’s vision is to empower human progress through learning.

To get a better feel for the Pearson brand, check out the Pearson brand video, the company Facebook page, and our ‘Inspiration’ section below, before you begin composing your track.

Pearson is aiming for diversity of music from inspirational and aspirational, dynamic and adventurous to quiet and considered. The judges would like to see a wide range of music genres - i.e. acoustic, classical, hip hop, electronica, orchestral etc.

Pearson and their panel of judges will select up to ten pieces of music to include in their brand music library, which will be used globally across a variety of Pearson products and services. The Selected Artists will receive $1,500 per track.
things to consider
Before starting work on your music, here's a few things to keep in mind:
  • A variety of lengths can be provided, e.g.: 1 min version, 2.5 min version that can be looped. Longer tracks should have a beginning, a middle that can be looped, and an end.
  • All files must be submitted through SoundCloud. Please retain the original project file.
  • The tracks should be instrumental (no vocals).
  • Pearson is a global company with a presence in more than 70 countries.
  • Pearson provides products and services to a variety of ages – from early school years to adult learning. Make sure you choose a clear target audience when producing this work.

Please keep in mind the below statements which are all part of the Pearson brand guidelines and ethos. Please aim to focus on one element rather than combining them all as Pearson would like to gain a variety of different pieces:

  • Empowering human progress through learning: suggests music which builds and gathers momentum and is progressive.
  • Inspiring/supportive: suggests an uplifting harmony arrangement or different instruments building together to create one sound/working together.
  • Forward-looking/optimistic: suggests an upbeat electronic treatment, higher notes, modern.
  • Engaging: pace-hooks/beats/loops, head-nodding/toe-tapping.
  • Dynamic: spirit, energy, and movement.
  • Triumph: music that capture the struggle and grind of trying to better yourself through education, and reaching your goal.

the career opportunity
Up to ten (10) music pieces, as chosen by Pearson, will be selected. The Selected Artists will:
  • Have their track become part of the official Pearson brand music library, which will be used across a variety of official Pearson platforms and channels
  • Receive exposure across Pearson's social media channels, subject to the discretion of Pearson
  • The potential to be commissioned for future work with Pearson
  • Receive $1,500 per music piece
creative invite guidelines
  • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Limit ten (10) submissions per artist or artist team.
  • Artists should retain their original music project files, which will be sent to Pearson should they be selected.
  • Artists must submit their track via SoundCloud accompanied by a picture and description.
  • Artists are asked to follow the THINGS TO CONSIDER and INSPIRATION sections above.
  • Music must be original (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials).
  • Artists are asked not to share their submissions on social media.
  • Artists that are not selected will not give up any rights to their Work, however Pearson has the rights to promote their Work on their channels with reference to this Creative Invite during the Creative Invite period. All artists will be credited accordingly.
  • For the incentives set forth above, the Selected Artists will have to sign an Artist Agreement, which assigns full ownership of their Work to Pearson for global usage. Selected music pieces can still be used for artist's own portfolio purposes. Selected Artists can’t use the Work for any other purpose, including the right to commercialize the work or to permit others to use the work in any way, commercial or otherwise.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief or guidelines.
  • Selected Artist must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • No purchase necessary to enter.
how pearson will choose
Pearson will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
