Calling all animators and motion storytellers! Nike is giving you the amazing opportunity to show off your creative skills and create an animated artwork for their new Nike Epic React footwear.

Nike Epic React’s new foam technology feels so outrageous, it’s contagious. With Nike Epic React, it’s more fun to go far…so much fun, that with React’s lightweight energy return, there’s not much that can convince you to stop!

This summer, Nike will show runners the joy of running through two briefs on Talenthouse. For this brief bring to life ‘More Fun To Go Far’ through moving content that is perfect for Instagram Stories, your work can be animation or other moving formats, but please avoid lifestyle video.

Nike invites motion designers and animators from around the world to create moving assets (up to 15 seconds) that captures an endless run, powered by Nike Epic React, by submitting IG Story creative that brings to life “More Fun To Go Far” in a fun and disruptive way.

A minimum of ten (10) pieces (and up to 20) of animated artwork will be chosen from this brief, and the Selected Artists will receive $2,500. The selected submissions may also be featured on Nike’s social channels and receive exposure from their global community of fans and athletes.

PLEASE NOTE: Both Nike briefs on Talenthouse, static artwork and IG Stories are considered separate from one another but both will live under the same visual world, so feel free to submit to both! Before starting on your submission, please read the 'Things to Consider' section below.
things to consider
Before creating your artwork, please read this Briefing Document, download this Asset Pack (alternative download link) and consider the following:
  • Nike is looking for motion-based Instagram Story creative, (1080x1920 / 9:16 vertical), built to the platform environment, which could include:
    • animation up to 15 seconds in length (EXAMPLE)
    • multi-frame sequential storytelling
    • ‘Tap’ or ‘Swipe up’ functionality
    • use of provided animated running shoes
  • The Nike Epic React gender colorway alignment: Women’s: Peach, Men’s: Navy x Mauve. If creating different color variations for your artwork, please focus on these two colors for the shoes. Nike may potentially select an even number of both colorways, so you are encouraged to submit two color variations of your artwork!
  • You are encouraged to incorporate the FA18 Nike Epic React color palette (see Briefing Document) within your artwork.
  • Nike is looking for fun, contagious, and fresh motion artwork styles that will make people stop when they see the work in their social feed. Nike is looking for IG Story content that appeals to 17-24 year-old runners who incorporate movement into their everyday life.
  • Please no lifestyle videos or lifestyle photography.
  • Nike’s main objective is to leverage this content to disrupt in Instagram Story across multiple channels. Please think of that platform first when designing your artwork.
  • Using your desired medium, create a Nike Epic React IG Story, using the provided framework in the Asset Pack as a canvas.

  • You are encouraged to make running and distance central to your artwork. The artwork should show a progressive build of the running experience to communicate distance over the course of a run.
  • The artwork should convey “Go Far” with a looping background scene that transitions from one scene to another. Take inspiration from environmental changes/progressive cues, i.e.: day to night, weather, road signs, skyline, mile markers, etc. Make it fun, insightful, unexpected!
  • “Go Far” is the creative theme but the literal term does not need to appear in your artwork. The important thing is that the work communicates an irresistible urge to keep running in the Nike Epic React.
  • Nike loves work that lets your own unique style shine through and are open to creative interpretations of distance, as well as the appearance of the shoe (as rendered or re-drawn).
  • Artists should include the Nike Epic React foam texture within the piece. Nike is open to how overt it shows up within the experience. All assets can be found in the Asset Pack.
  • Themes to keep in mind when creating your artwork:
    • Vibrant
    • Energizing
    • Surprising
  • Please avoid making specific claims about the Nike Epic React shoe or including other brand references.
