Create Family Portraits for The Addams Family

Get ready to snap your fingers! The Addams Family is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about the kookiest family on the block. Funny, outlandish, and completely iconic, the Addams Family redefines what it means to be a good neighbor.

To amplify the launch of the film, United Artists Releasing is creating an art activation campaign leading up to this film’s release, and they want to collaborate with you!

Artists, designers, and illustrators from around the world are invited to create one-of-a-kind family portrait artwork for The Addams Family inspired by the latest trailer. To qualify, all character art should be in the style of the assets provided. Artists are encouraged to capture typically mundane moments (Halloween, road trip, summer vacation, Family dinner, game night, etc.), adding an Addams Family twist.

Whether it's an illustration, a digital painting or an alternative poster design, the judges are looking for captivating and imaginative static artwork to help drive promotion and excitement socially across the film's marketing and digital channels. Artists are encouraged to check out the trailer and The Addams Family's social channels. Artists may also use approved imagery assets for inspiration.

Artwork will potentially be featured across the film's marketing campaign, including social accounts, and print materials. Five (5) pieces of art will be selected by United Artists Releasing. The Selected Artists will receive $2,000 for each piece selected.

  • The Addams Family is a movie targeted towards younger audiences. Thus, please consider what would be appropriate for such audiences to view. For instance, creepy and dark Halloween-like depictions are good, while images that involve blood, death, torture or violence are not.
  • Artists are encouraged to create original one of a kind art, inspired and based on this iteration of the Addams Family and provided assets.
  • Artists are encouraged to check The Addams Family official social accounts for inspiration.
  • Artists should watch the trailer.
  • The work should only include the Addams Family main characters.

The Addams Family characters sometimes engage in macabre and anti-social behavior. Remember that this is a family film, and any depictions must be acceptable for viewing by all audiences. Please avoid any references to alcohol, drugs, tobacco products, illegal activities, illicit sexual acts, political speech, or anything insulting or racist.

Five pieces of work, as chosen by United Artists Releasing, will be selected. The Selected Artists will:

  • Potentially have their artwork featured in The Addams Family's marketing campaign
  • Potentially receive exposure for their work across The Addams Family's digital and marketing channels including television, and print materials
  • Receive $2,000 for each piece of artwork selected

  • Artists are asked to not post on their private social channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) until after the announcement date so that United Artists Releasing can share first.
  • This opportunity is open globally (except in those countries excluded in the Official Rules) to those who are at least 18 years of age and the age of majority at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Each artist or team may submit up to 10 submissions.
  • Artists should retain their original artwork files in the highest quality possible but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max. size 10MB.
  • All submissions must be original artwork which is not inspired by or based on third-party artwork (and may not contain third party materials or intellectual property and/or stock materials, and must be free-and-clear of any and all third-party rights). Please, no photography or video.
  • Artists may include The Addams Family's title treatment logo in their artwork. All rights in and to the characters, title treatment logo and material provided are reserved by United Artists Releasing.
  • Selected Artists may be asked to modify their work to fit production requirements.
  • Selected Artists (defined in Official Rules) shall assign to United Artists Releasing and their licensees and assigns all rights, title, and interest in and to the Selected Artists’ submitted artwork. Selected Artists will be required to sign a License Agreement.
  • The Non-Selected artists retain the copyright as to the original elements only in their work, subject to United Artists Releasing's intellectual property rights to the motion picture elements. By entering the Creative Invite, each artist grants to United Artists Releasing a worldwide, unrestricted, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for one (1) year to use the submitted work across United Artists Releasing's various marketing platforms in association with the advertising, marketing and promotion of The Addams Family including without limitation, television, digital and marketing channels, printed materials and merchandise. United Artists Releasing will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide all artists with credit for their work.
  • Artist’s copyright in the work is subject to and restricted by United Artists Releasing's underlying rights in The Addams Family IP defined in the Official Rules, and entrants may make only personal non-commercial use (e.g. portfolio purposes) of the submissions without express written consent from United Artists Releasing. In no event, may an entrant obtain a fee, royalty, advertising revenue, or any other payment for the art created pursuant to this Creative Invite.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email and must timely complete all requested paperwork or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the Submission Guidelines as specified herein and in the Official Rules.

how United Artists Releasing will choose
United Artists Releasing will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines, and Official Rules.

All eligible submissions received will be judged according to the following equally weighted judging criteria: substance; creativity; originality, and adherence to The Addams Family theme.
