Create a comic book poster for Who Is Fancy

Who Is Fancy, Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, three of the biggest artists in popular music, have joined forces to release the brand new song "Boys Like You" on November 23, 2015.

To celebrate the star-studded collaboration, artists, illustrators and graphic designers from around the world are invited to create a six panel comic strip poster using the "Boys Like You" lyrics as the storyline.

Artists are asked to depict all three performers in their illustrations and select lyrics from the song to add into speech bubbles. Judges are looking for eye catching, creative and fun comic strips!

One Selected Artist will receive $1,500 and have their work printed on a limited edition run of posters. The selected comic strip will also be featured on the official Flipagram pages of Who Is Fancy and Republic Records.

The world got to meet Who Is Fancy in 2015. However, it was all on his terms. Without revealing its creator’s identity, the single “Goodbye” caught fire online, going viral and racking up nearly 20 million cumulative streams over the course of the year. The song started climbing radio charts and Z100’s Elvis Duran and the Morning Show brought him on the show for his first interview. Then, he enjoyed a high-profile reveal on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, finally unveiling his face and explosive live charisma. He’d follow that up with a much talked-about appearance on The Today Show and a show-stopping performance on Live With Kelly & Michael.

Jessica Severn
Jessica Severn is the Art Director and Lead Designer at Scooter Braun’s diversified entertainment and media company, SB Projects. When she's not bringing the visions of others to life, the San Diego native is developing her own, coupling a desire to innovate with a deep love for art and illustration. Her expanded base of experience includes a wealth of large scale projects, including art direction and design for Justin Bieber’s Purpose, Ariana Grande's most recent Billboard #1 album, My Everything, Carly Rae Jepsen’s Emotion and Tori Kelly’s debut album Unbreakable Smile. She takes an immense amount of pride in her work and remains on the lookout for new challenges, new designs and new graphic tees.
Roberto De Jesus
Roberto De Jesus is a Flipagram influencer with over 122,000 followers and through his company Strangely Perfect, he creates branded content for social media platforms. Roberto cut his teeth in the production offices and on the sets of big studio movies like Enchanted and The Bourne Ultimatum. He then transitioned to commercial production and was able to start shooting behind-the-scenes and lifestyle videos for brands. Through these opportunities, Roberto was able to find his passion and talent for creating visually stunning social content and connecting with social audiences.

Currently heading up the digital marketing team at Republic Records in New York City, Aaron spent the last 10 years in London at Mercury, Warner Bros., and Polydor respectively. Throughout his career Aaron has worked with The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Eminem, Ellie Goulding, Elbow, Snow Patrol, Ariana Grande and Florence + The Machine among many others.
creative invite guidelines
  • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Artists should retain their original artwork files (in 300dpi) but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max size 10MB.
  • All submissions must be original artwork (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright materials except the likeness of the three performers and the lyrics provided). No photography please.
  • Lyrics from "Boys Like You" have to be incorporated into the six panel comic strip.
  • The dimensions of the comic book poster must allow for it to be printed in 11 x 17 and 18 x 24 inches.
  • The Selected Artist may be asked to modify their poster design to fit production requirements.
  • Artists that are not selected will not give up any rights to their work, however Who Is Fancy and Republic Records have the right to promote their work on their channels in connection with this Creative Invite. All artists will be credited accordingly.
  • The copyright for the selected submission shall be owned by Who Is Fancy and Republic Records for global usage. In return, the Selected Artist will receive the specified incentives.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • The Selected Artist must respond to Talenthouse within one day of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions, as well as submissions that do not fit the brief or guidelines, will be removed.
  • No purchase necessary to enter.
how who is fancy will choose
Who Is Fancy and his panel of guest judges will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
