The German National Tourist Office is looking for beautiful artwork that inspires people to travel and explore the amazing places throughout Germany, as part of its 'Germany in full colour' campaign launching in September 2019 in the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Create stunning artwork that captures – or is inspired by – Germany's diverse destinations in vibrant, colourful, and creative ways. You can use any digital static medium, from digital illustration, to collage, graphic design or even photography.

A minimum of 3 and up to 6 pieces of work will be selected and receive £1,500 each. Selected artwork may be shared across the German National Tourist Office, and partner Skyscanner social and digital channels.

Submission Guidelines
  • Create beautiful, vibrant artwork that captures, or is inspired by one of the following types of destinations in Germany:
    • German nature: Germany is full of natural wonders, with awe-inspiring landscapes that boast truly diverse flora and fauna. Think majestic forests, alpine mountains and crystal-clear lakes.
    • German cities: Each town and city in Germany has its own unique charm, from the buzzing major cities to the beautifully quaint towns. With 10,000 towns and cities in Germany between the North Sea and the Alps, there’s something for everyone – be it historic sights, medieval houses, spirited nightlife or packed shopping streets.
    • German castles, parks and gardens: Enter a real-life fairytale amid the enchanting palaces, parks and gardens to be found throughout the country. Perfect for romantic tours, magical moments or the discovery of hidden gems.
  • Capture just one destination, be inspired by a whole region, or multiple places in the same theme (e.g. castles throughout the country).
  • Colour is key! Really bring a destination to life with vibrant, bright colours. No black and white, please.
  • Your artwork should be inspirational, beautiful, and inspire a millennial traveller to visit Germany.
  • The German National Tourist Office is looking for a range of artwork that captures a broad range of German destinations - use your artwork to inspire people to go off the beaten track.
  • Please ensure the destination(s) in your artwork are recognisable and easy to understand.

  • Your artwork can capture Germany during any season (spring, summer, autumn, winter, all four) – it’s up to you!
  • Use any creative medium you wish, so long as you create digital 2D static artwork.
  • You may submit photography, but please ensure you capture the destination in a super creative way - think outside the box. Check out the mood board to see what we mean and to get inspired for your artwork.
  • You can include people in your artwork, but they shouldn’t be the focus. If any person in your work is recognisable, please ensure they / their legal guardian signs a model release form.
  • Your work can be any size or orientation, but consider that selected artwork may be used on social media and potentially print, so keep this in mind when developing your work. Please create photography in a square or portrait orientation.
  • Please avoid stereotypes, cliches and dark humour.
  • Tell us what place in Germany your work captures or is inspired by via the 'Say something about your submission' field when submitting your work.
  • Feel free to share your artwork on social media. On Twitter, tag @visitgermanyuk and on Instagram tag @Germanytourism. And use #GermanyInFullColour so we can see and potentially share your artwork.
  • Please don't include any reference to politics, offensive, dangerous situations, alcohol, other brands, unclothed people, or anyone under 18 years of age.
