Last Night In Soho is an exciting psychological thriller directed by Edgar Wright and starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin McKenzie. Inspired by the dark, glamorous, and time-warping themes of Last Night In Soho, Focus Features is creating an art activation campaign for the film’s release, and they want to collaborate with you!

Create one-of-a-kind static artwork that embodies the tone and style of the film.

Whether it’s an illustration, digital painting, or an alternative poster design, the judges are looking for art that reflects the psychological thriller elements of the film while creatively playing upon its themes and style.

4 pieces of work will be chosen as Selected Creators by director Edgar Wright in collaboration with Focus Features, and each will receive $2,000.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
  • Your artwork should be inspired by one or more of the following key themes:

    • Psychological thriller

    • The 1960s era

    • Retro fashion

    • Duality of 1960s London vs. Present-day London

    • 1960s “exciting, glamorous” London vs. its foreboding, seedy side

    • Creative muse vs. unhealthy obsession

    • Feeling as though you’re on the outside looking in

    • “Deceitful” mirror images


  • Please use the following creative assets in your work, including title treatment, font, and visuals for inspiration:

  • Please create artwork according to the following specifications:

    • Minimum 300dpi




  • Do not depict the likeness of talent in your artwork!

  • Do portray thematic elements through creative depictions of settings, use of color, etc.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT IN SOHO

Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho is a psychological thriller about a young woman who leaves her countryside upbringing for the big city of London to follow her dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Far from the comforts of home and finding it hard to fit in at school, she escapes through her passion for a world she’s never been in--the retro times and glamorous scenes of 1960s London. But when she encounters her idol, a dazzling singer pushing for her own ‘big break’, the lines between dreams and reality, past and present, the imaginary and the designed, soon blur. Yet 1960s London is not quite what it appears, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences…

CREATIVE GUIDELINES
  • NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. AN INTERNET CONNECTION IS REQUIRED.

  • Who is eligible: This opportunity is open to residents of the United States and the United Kingdom to those who are at least 18 years of age and the age of majority at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.

  • Each creator may submit up to 10 submissions. Creator teams allowed.

  • Submissions will not be visible to the public until after the announcement.

  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, your submission may be featured on Last Night In Soho's social media channels with credit given to the Creator.

  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Your work must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max. size 10 MB. Please retain your original layered AI or PSD files in the highest quality possible. Only static digital work. Please, no photography or video.

  • Creators should retain their original artwork files in the highest quality possible but designs must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max. size 10MB.

  • If you are selected, you will have to supply your artwork as a layered artwork file in AI or PSD (high-res, CMYK and 300dpi minimum).

  • All submissions must be original artwork which is not inspired by or based on third-party artwork (and may not contain third party materials or intellectual property and/or stock materials, and must be free-and-clear of any and all third-party rights). Please, no photography or video.

  • Creators may not depict the likenesses of the characters in Last Night In Soho.

  • Creators may include the film’s official title treatment logo in their artwork. All rights in and to the characters, title treatment logo, and asset pack provided are reserved by Focus Features.


  • Creator's copyright in the artwork is subject to and restricted by Focus Features' underlying rights in Last Night In Soho's IP defined in the Official Rules, and entrants may make only personal non-commercial use (e.g. portfolio purposes and digital channels) of the submissions without express written consent from Focus Features. In no event, may an entrant obtain a fee, royalty, advertising revenue, or any other payment for the art created pursuant to this Creative Brief.

  • The Non-Selected Creators retain the copyright as to the original elements only in their artwork, subject to Focus Features’ intellectual property rights to the motion picture elements. By entering the Creative Brief, each Creator grants to Focus Features a worldwide, unrestricted, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for one (1) year to use the submitted artwork across Focus Features’ various marketing platforms in association with the advertising, marketing and promotion of Last Night In Soho, including without limitation digital and marketing channels. Focus Features will use its best efforts to provide all Creators with credit for their artwork.

  • If you are a ‘Selected Creator’ (as defined in the Official Rules), you will be required to assign all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Focus Features and their licensees for the specified incentives. Upon selection, you will be required to sign a License Agreement, Rights Release Form and an Awardee Agreement.

  • Selected Creators may be asked to modify their artwork up to 2 times to fit production requirements.

  • Please provide an active email address when registering with Talenthouse to ensure you can be contacted should you be selected.

  • During the selection period, Talenthouse will reach out to those being shortlisted. You must respond to Talenthouse within forty-eight (48) hours or else you will forfeit all incentives. For the verification, you will be asked to provide the original files of your artwork and a scan of your ID.

  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or Official Rules.

HOW FOCUS FEATURES WILL CHOOSE

Focus Features and Last Night In Soho director Edgar Wright will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.

The judging criteria are based on Creativity (30%), Originality (30%) and Overall Understanding of the theme (40%).
