Create artwork for the new HUAWEI Mate 10

Intro

Founded 30 years ago, HUAWEI is now the world’s second largest smartphone manufacturer, it's success born from a philosophy of collective wisdom and strong partnerships. Launched October 16, the HUAWEI Mate 10 will define the next era of smartphones, combining beautiful hardware with innovative technology. Features include a camera co-engineered with Leica and the world's first mobile AI chipset. These innovations enable the Mate 10 to deliver the ultimate intelligent mobile experience.

HUAWEI wants to challenge visual artists from around the world to create multi-media artwork that show how innovation in technology is a journey, from the past, to the present and beyond. The artwork should celebrate innovation and the launch of the Mate 10 smartphone, and include a product shot or representation of the HUAWEI Mate 10 in the work.

The HUAWEI judging panel are looking for work that has a creative take on innovation as a journey, with a playful, premium tone and global outlook. Artwork can be in either illustration, graphic design, GIF or animation (up to 10 seconds) - the choice is yours! Before submitting your work, please read the 'Your Submission' section below, and take a look at mood board for inspiration.

Please keep in mind the HUAWEI campaign hashtags, #HuaweiCreative, #makeitpossible and #HuaweiMate10. Feel free to share your work via your social media channels, using these hashtags and tagging @huaweimobile.

Up to seven pieces of work will be selected and be showcased across HUAWEI's social media channels, and each will receive $2,000.

    Your Submission
    Before submitting your work, please consider the following:
    • Artwork should include either a rendered product shot or illustration/graphic design representation of the HUAWEI Mate 10. Download the HUAWEI Asset Pack here.
    • Artwork should show the innovation journey. Artists may use this mood board for inspiration on the innovation journey and the following themes:
      • PAST: Chinese heritage, collective wisdom, strong partnerships
      • PRESENT: HUAWEI Mate 10, the age of mobile AI
      • FUTURE: The future of innovation in the digital world
    • Artists may consider the HUAWEI brand colours red, black and white however these don't need to be included in the artwork.


    • Artists are encouraged to be part of the HUAWEI creative community by sharing their submissions on their social media channels, tagging @huaweimobile and using the hashtags #HuaweiCreative, #makeitpossible and #HuaweiMate10.
    • When creating work, artists are encouraged to keep the HUAWEI campaign line 'Make It Possible' and the brand's premium, playful spirit in mind.
    • Artists should try to avoid depicting 'journey of innovation' as unrealistic fantasy, absurd cartoons or comics, or aligned with exclusive groups.
    • Artists must include their social media username within their description or Talenthouse profile to ensure they are credited if their submission is showcased on HUAWEI's social channels.

    About HUAWEI Mate 10
    HUAWEI Mate 10 defines the next era of smartphones, combining beautiful hardware, such as a camera co-engineered with Leica, and an embedded neural processing unit (NPU) – a dedicated core for advanced AI operations. These innovations enable the Mate 10 to deliver the ultimate intelligent mobile experience.
    The Career Opportunity
    Up to seven pieces of artwork will be selected by HUAWEI. The Selected Artists will receive:
    • Potential exposure across HUAWEI's social and digital marketing channels
    • $2,000 for each piece selected
    Creative Invite Guidelines
    • This opportunity is open globally to those who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Void where prohibited by law.
    • Limit ten (10) submissions per artist or artist team.
    • Artwork can be either illustration, graphic design, GIF or animation (up to 10 seconds). Artwork should not include photography.
    • All submissions must be original artwork (meaning not using third party pre-existing copyright or stock materials other than those provided). All rights in and to the material provided are reserved by HUAWEI and cannot be used for any other uses than this Creative Invite.
    • Submissions should include either a rendered product shot or illustration/graphic design representation of the HUAWEI Mate 10. The HUAWEI Asset Pack can be downloaded here. Any of the four HUAWEI Mate 10 product colours can be used in the artwork.
    • Artists should retain their original files in the highest quality possible. Images and GIFs must be submitted via the "Participate tab" in JPEG, PNG or GIF max size 10MB. Animations should be no longer than 10 seconds in length and must be uploaded using the Talenthouse player.
    • Please read the ‘Your Submission’ section carefully.
    • Artists that are not selected will retain ownership of their work, however HUAWEI has marketing rights to promote the work on their social media and digital channels worldwide with reference to this Creative Invite for up to six (6) months after announcement of the Selected Artists. All artists will be credited accordingly.
    • The Selected Artists grant HUAWEI a worldwide, exclusive, royalty-free license for three (3) years to use their submitted work as described in the Official Rules. The Selected Artists will have to sign a License Agreement.
    • The Selected Artists may be asked to modify their artwork to fit production requirements.
    • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
    • The Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
    • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, guidelines or Official Rules.
    • No purchase necessary to enter.
    How HUAWEI Will Choose
    HUAWEI will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
