Create artwork for Pet Sematary

Creators Selected On
April 10, 2019
Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

To amplify the launch of the film in April 2019, Paramount hand-selected ten (10) unique artists to create artwork inspired by the creepy, mysterious, and horrific world captured in Pet Sematary!

There are a few items available for reference, but artists were encouraged to let their imagination flow! The film’s trailer, social channels, and still images were provided to be used as inspiration for the artwork. The final poster was created in two versions: one with the English title treatment, the other with the title treatment in the artist's country's native language. Country specific briefs and respective title treatment logo were provided.

Whether it's an illustration, a painting, or an alternative poster design, the studio was looking for captivating and imaginative artwork to help drive excitement and promote socially across the film's marketing and digital channels. Artists were also encouraged to video record/time-lapse their creative process which would be used by Paramount for an additional opportunity of social exposure!

After final completion of the work and acceptance by Paramount, artists received $2,000.
