Creators Selected On
November 9, 2015
Hip-hop legend Dr. Dre’s first studio release in 16 years, Compton is already deemed one of the most acclaimed albums of the year. The album is truly a nostalgic look into Dr. Dre’s subconscious, taking listeners on his journey from the streets of Compton to building a global empire.

To celebrate the release of the album and its narrative, illustrators, graphic designers and animators from around the world are invited to bring the story of Compton to life through innovative animated artwork. Artists are free to use the source art files provided, but it is not required.

Submissions should be either in GIF or Vine format and should capture the essence of Compton’s story through Dr. Dre’s eyes. Artists are encouraged to listen to the album and take into account the song titles as inspiration.

One Selected Artist will receive $1,500 and have their work featured across Interscope Records' social channels. In addition, two Highly Commended will each receive $500.
about dr. dre
Considered by many to be hip-hop's greatest producer, Dr. Dre pioneered gangsta hip-hop and co-founded the notorious rap group N.W.A. (with Ice Cube and Eazy-E). The group was one of the most successful hip-hop groups of the late 1980s and helped lay the foundations of what's known as West Coast "gangsta" rap. In 1991, Dre got out of his deal with Ruthless Records and co-founded Death Row Records with Suge Knight. Dre's 1992 solo effort, The Chronic, was a critical and popular success and made his fame as a producer. He also won a Grammy for the album's single, "Let Me Ride."
