Cook up vibrant illustrations for Nestle's Maggi

Nestle brand Maggi has been helping people cook the fresh food they love and believe in every day for the past 135 years! Now, Maggi wants you to bring a fresh perspective to the way their ingredients are shown on packaging, social, online and point of sale materials, appealing to a food-loving millennial.

Illustrate Maggi's key ingredients in a simple, modern and eye-catching way – visually capturing their freshness, to make people excited to cook!

From Stage 1, up to 2 Finalists will be chosen and receive €1,500 each, alongside 1 Selected Creator who will receive €3,000 and be commissioned for Stage 2 to develop more illustrations and receive an additional €5,000.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
  • Create an illustration including these 5 ingredients:
    • Onion, Carrot, Tomato, Parsley and Basil
  • Each ingredient illustration should work well independently and when used together as a set
  • Your illustrations should look fresh, modern and have a handmade feel
  • Keep your illustrations simple and easily identifiable
  • Use colour to bring the ingredients to life and make them look delicious
  • Check out this mood board for inspiration


  • Think creatively about how your illustrations will make Maggi products stand out on-shelf, and stop people scrolling in their newsfeed
  • Stay away from illustrations that look too childish, hyper-realistic or like a watercolour
  • For your submission, add your ingredient illustrations onto 1 of these background images, so Maggi can visualise how they would look on a poster. Consider how your illustrations will appear on both of these backgrounds
  • Please create your work in vector format. If selected, you may need to share all ingredient illustration as separate files
STAGE 1: OPEN CALL
For this Creative Invite, you should:
  • Create an illustration that captures the 5 ingredients listed in the 'Submission Guidelines'
  • Add your ingredient illustrations onto 1 of these background images, and submit your work as a JPEG/PNG via the 'Participate' tab
  • Include a short description of your creative style and inspiration for the work (in English), in the 'Say something about your submission' section
STAGE 2: COMMISSION
From all submissions, Maggi will choose 1 Selected Creator, who will potentially be commissioned to:
  • Create illustrations for 10 additional ingredients in the same creative style
  • Create a key visual that includes all 15 ingredient illustrations and uses the background templates provided
  • Receive an additional €5,000 in exchange for creating the 10 additional illustrations
  • The Commissioned Creator will be contacted by Talenthouse in October 2019

THE INCENTIVES

A minimum of 1 and up to 2 Finalists will be chosen by Maggi. Each will:
  • Potentially receive exposure across Maggi and Nestle social and digital channels
  • Receive €1,500
1 Selected Creator will be chosen by Maggi. They will:
  • Potentially be commissioned for Stage 2, to create additional illustrations and a key visual
  • Potentially have their work used across Maggi's product range and marketing channels
  • Receive €3,000 for the original submission, and an additional €5,000 upon completion of Stage 2 creation of additional illustrations
CREATIVE INVITE GUIDELINES
  • Who is eligible: This opportunity is open globally and you need to be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of Maggi (Nestle) and Talenthouse are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Limit ten (10) submissions per creator or teams.
  • Each submission should include at least 1 JPEG/PNG, containing 5 ingredient illustrations and use 1, or both of these background images.
  • Submission Period: Enter your submissions between 18:00 BST on 21 August 2019 and 17:00 BST on 26 September 2019.
  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, your submission may be featured on Maggi (Nestle) social media channels with credit given to you.
  • Submissions will not be visible to the public until after the announcement.
  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third-party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission) except for the material provided by Maggi (Nestle). All rights in and to the material provided are reserved by Maggi (Nestle).
  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Your work must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max. size 10 MB. Please retain your original layered vector files in the highest quality possible. Only static digital illustration work. Please, no photography or video.
    • If you are selected you will have to supply your artwork as a layered vector file (high-res and CMYK). Each of your ingredient illustrations should be created in a separate vector file.
    • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your work. Please use the 'Say something about your submission' section within your submission.
    • We advise you to carefully read the "Submission Guidelines" section above.
    • If you are not selected, you will retain ownership in the original portions of your work. However, by submitting you hereby grant Maggi (Nestle) a worldwide, non-exclusive, limited, royalty-free license for up to 3 months after the announcement of the Finalists and Selected Creator to use your submitted work across their various online and social media platforms. If your work is used, you will be credited accordingly.
    • If you are a 'Finalist', you will be required to grant a global, limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for 1 year in the selected work to Maggi (Nestle) for the incentives set forth above. You will be required to sign a License Agreement and the Awardee Agreement. Please note that you will retain ownership of the original portions of your work.
    • If you are a ‘Selected Creator’, you will be required to assign all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Maggi (Nestle) for the specified incentives. Upon selection, you will be required to sign a Release Form and the Awardee Agreement. Please note that submissions can be used by you for personal, non-commercial and portfolio use only.
    • If selected, you may be asked to modify your work to fit production requirements. This may be up to 2 rounds of edits.
    • Selection Period: The 1-2 finalist and 1 selected works will be chosen by Maggi (Nestle) between 26 September and 30 October 2019.
    • Please provide an active email address when registering with Talenthouse to ensure you can be contacted should you be selected.
    • During the selection period, Talenthouse will reach out to those being shortlisted. You must respond to Talenthouse within forty-eight (48) hours or else you will forfeit all incentives. For the verification, you will be asked to provide the original files of your work and a scan of your ID.
    • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or Official Rules (see below).
    • No purchase necessary to enter or be selected.
    how MAGGI will choose
    Maggi will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.

    The judging criteria is based on Creativity (30%), Originality (30%) and Overall Understanding of the theme (40%).
