Capture authentic, original photos of social drinking occasions for Miller Lite

Miller Lite is the original American light beer. Brewed since 1975 with a strong belief that a beer can be light and not compromise on taste! For that reason Miller Lite also champions others that hold true to what they believe and who they are. Residents of these countries are excluded from participating.

Capture authentic and natural Miller Lite drinking occasions that are centred around hanging out with friends, BBQs, watching sport and living in the moment - just being you!

Miller Lite is looking for photos that feel like Miller Lite is a natural part of an occasion, not forced, and not just a close up of the product without any reason for it being there. The judging panel will be looking for photographs that showcase the brand in dynamic ways, through a 'real-world' lens that feels social, natural and relevant to all global markets.

Check out this mood board, and the ‘Do & Don't’ section below! Miller Lite will be looking for approximately 80% of the photos to include product, and 20% to be lifestyle and may include branding - see details on this below. You may submit a mix of both.

Up to 16 photos will be selected and receive $1,500 each. Artists may be commissioned to create additional photos for Miller Lite and receive up to $10,000 compensation.

Stage 1: Submission
Please submit at least 3 photos that capture the following:
  • Natural, social, informal drinking occasion in a sunny, urban environment where people are enjoying themselves. Example environments could be in a backyard with a close group of friends; having a BBQ with beers; eating and enjoying the beer; walking home with a pack of Miller Lite, or watching sport where people are living in the moment!
  • Include one of the following into your photos:
    • The Product: either the Miller Lite can (preferred), bottle or carton - see what they look like here. if you can’t get hold of the product, feel free to include an alternative Miller / Molson Coors beer, and tell us how you would include the correct product if you were commissioned to create additional photos for Miller Lite.
    • Branding: this could be Miller Lite branded clothing, merchandise, point of sale items, street signs or anything else you see. See examples in the Brand Guidelines.
Stage 2: Commission
A minimum of 1, and up to 7 participating artists may be commissioned to capture additional photos for Miller Lite. These artists would:
  • Be sent Miller Lite products and branded merchandise and capture a bank of 30 images.
  • Receive $5,000 for creating the bank of images, and an additional $500 per photo selected by Miller Lite in exchange for full copyright.
  • Potentially have their work used across Miller Lite digital and social channels around the world.
  • Commissioned artists will be contacted by Talenthouse in June 2019.
  • Your photos should feel natural, authentic, inclusive.
  • Photos should be centred around an informal drinking occasion, where people are enjoying themselves with a Miller Lite.
  • Occasions could be hanging out with friends, at a BBQ, watching sport, where people are living in the moment, just being yourself!

  • Photos should include either Miller Lite beer product(s) (cans (preferred) / bottles / packs), or branding (including point of sale, wearables or merchandise).
  • Include a range of people in your photos, with a gender split of roughly 80% male, 20% female. Be sure to get this model release form signed by everyone included.
  • If you include any buildings or private property in your photo, please get this location release form signed by the owner.
  • Please submit between 3 and 10 photos to this Creative Invite. Tell us about the story behind your photos, and how you would build on the idea should you be commissioned to create more work for Miller Lite - include this in the ‘Description’ section of your submission.
  • Please don't solely focus on the product or branding in your photos. These elements should be subtly incorporated into the photos, and should look like they are there naturally.
  • No photos of just the product, or close ups of the product please. Miller Lite are not looking for the product to be the star - they want to see the occasion or brand represented in a dynamic way.
  • No photos that are obviously staged, forced or look unnatural please (e.g. forced smiles or 'cheers'-ing).
  • No photos captured at night time or on a beach please.
  • Please ensure the people captured in the photos look over 25 years of age (no children).
  • Photos must not include or allude to alcohol drinking scenarios (bars, clubs, pubs) or dangerous situations.
  • Don't include any country or city specific references in your photos (e.g. buildings iconic to a city).
  • Photos should not include any trademarks or service marks of a third party.
Miller Lite is the original light beer. Introduced in 1975, Miller Lite was brewed to be a great tasting beer that just happened to be light, not some lesser version of a full-calorie beer. While many other light beers have been developed over the years, Miller Lite remains the original, always upholding Miller’s commitment to “quality uncompromising and unchanging.”

The Miller Lite recipe uses a unique blend of choice Saaz and Pacific Northwest hops and a significant amount of caramel malt. In addition, they are still proud to use the same strain of brewer’s yeast that Frederick Miller brought with him from Germany in the 1850’s. Their beer continues to be purposefully brewed for more taste, aroma and golden color than other light beers, with just 96 calories.
The Career Opportunity
A minimum of 10 and up to 16 photographs will be selected by Miller Lite in Stage 1. The Selected Artists will:
  • Potentially have their work used across Miller Lite’s global social and digital channels;
  • Potentially be commissioned for Stage 2, to create an additional bank of photographs for Miller Lite using product / merchandise. For this each artist may receive between $5,000 and $10,000;
  • Receive $1,500 for each photo selected for this Creative Invite.
  • This opportunity is open globally (except for residents of the countries listed here) to those who are at least 21 years of age and the age of majority in their jurisdiction of primary residence at the time of submission. Employees and their immediate family and household members of Miller Lite and Talenthouse are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law.
  • Limit ten (10) submissions per artist or artist team. Only 1 image can be uploaded with a submission. Please submit between 3 and 10 images to this Creative Invite.
  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, your submission may be featured on Miller Lite / Molson Coors social media channels with credit given to you.
  • All submissions must be your own original work (meaning you are not allowed to use third party pre-existing copyright materials and/or stock imagery in your submission) except for the material provided by Miller Lite. All rights in and to the material provided are reserved by Miller Lite.
  • Please retain your original artwork files in the highest quality possible but work must be submitted in JPEG or PNG, max size 10MB. Please only photographs.
  • Please add a short description in English explaining the inspiration behind your photograph. Please use the 'Say something about your submission' section within your submission.
  • We advice you to carefully read the 'Submission Guidelines' and 'Do and Don't' sections above.
  • Artists that are not selected retain ownership in the original portions of their work, however Miller Lite has the right to promote submissions on their channels in connection with this Creative Invite for three (3) months after the announcement of the Selected Artists. All artists will be credited accordingly.
  • Selected Artists will have to sign an agreement assigning all rights, title and interest in and to the selected work to Miller Lite for global usage. The selected work can still be used for artist's own portfolio purposes.
  • Selected Artists will need to provide signed model release and location release forms relevant to the selected photographs. Please use the release forms provided.
  • Selected Artists and their model(s) featured in their work may be asked by Miller Lite to undergo background checks.
  • The selected submission may be modified in collaboration with the Selected Artist to accommodate production requirements.
  • Artists must join Talenthouse using an active email address in order to ensure they can be contacted should they be selected.
  • The Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within two (2) days of receiving the notification email or else will forfeit all incentives.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to remove inappropriate, offensive and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief, these guidelines or Official Rules.
  • No purchase necessary to enter or be selected.
how Miller Lite will choose
Miller Lite will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.
