To amplify the launch of the film, Godzilla vs. Kong, Warner Bros. Pictures wants to collaborate with you for an exciting fan-first meme campaign

Create memes to use as promotional assets for the launch of the film Godzilla vs. Kong throughout the world. Celebrate the cinematic, one-of-a-kind, action-packed movie and showcase the rivalry and scale of these iconic monsters.

16 memes will be chosen, and the Selected Creators (as defined in the Official Rules for this Creative Brief - linked below) will receive $500 each, and potentially have their memes featured across the film's on- and off-line marketing campaign and merchandise.


Things To Consider
  • All submissions should be inspired by the new trailer and supplementary materials provided for the new film Godzilla vs. Kong. The supplementary materials may be used within your meme, but the supplementary materials themselves must not be modified. Do not reference franchise characters that are not depicted in the new trailer or the film's supplementary marketing materials linked above.

  • Deliverables should be in JPEG, PNG, GIF, MP4 max size 10MB

  • You should only submit memes you have created yourself and must not include stock imagery, but may include the supplementary materials linked to above. Again, the supplementary materials themselves must not be modified.

  • You can submit up to 10 times (as long as each submission is distinct from your other submission), so feel free to show us a range of your memes

Do

  • In all copy instances, the title should read Godzilla vs. Kong (lower case “v” and a period after the “s”), exceptions to this include at tagging social pages and using the official hashtag #GodzillaVsKong. Please reach out with any questions!

  • Godzilla shall be depicted with scaly skin, four (4) fingers on each two (2) hands, four (4) toes on each of two (2) feet, short arms, and three (3) rows of fins along the back

Do Not

  • Godzilla shall not speak any human language;

  • Godzilla shall not be killed;

  • It shall not be stated or implied that the creation of Godzilla was the result of any cause other than a catastrophic nuclear event, and Godzilla's and King Kong’s use shall not be derogatory to their image.

  • Do not reference past franchise characters, or those not depicted in the new film trailer or the supplementary materials.
About the Warner Bros. Godzilla vs. Kong:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes the long-awaited face-off between two icons, “Godzilla vs. Kong,” the next epic adventure in Legendary’s cinematic Monsterverse, directed by Adam Wingard. Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.

Incentives

16 memes will be chosen by Warner Bros. Pictures Godzilla vs. Kong as Selected Creators. Selected Creators will each receive:

  • Potential to receive exposure in an official marketing asset for the Film, possibly promoted across social accounts and/or used in print materials outdoor advertising (e.g. billboards, murals), and merchandise (e.g. t-shirts).
  • $500 USD for each piece selected


CREATIVE BRIEF GUIDELINES
  • All submissions must be original memes (meaning not using third-party pre-existing copyright and/or stock materials), but may include the supplementary materials linked to above. Again, the supplementary materials themselves must not be modified.
  • Multiple submissions (up to 10) are allowed. Creator teams are not allowed.
  • How to submit: Click on the ‘Participate’ tab and follow the instructions. Static imagery must be uploaded as JPEG or PNG (max. size 10MB). No photography, please.
  • Creators should retain their original memes files in the highest quality possible but designs must be submitted in JPEG, PNG, MP4 max. size 10MB.
  • Please note, that during the Submission Period, submissions may be featured on Godzilla vs. Kong, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Warner Media social media, and other channels and credit may be given to the creator. Submissions may need to be cropped or edited for such purposes.
  • Selected Creators must sign a Contributor’s Agreement and submit a completed Warner Bros. Pictures Creative Asset Data Sheet (“CAD”) that is approved by Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. in order to have a chance for selection.
  • All creators, whether Selected Creators or not, retain ownership only in the original portions of their Work (defined in the Official Rules) that do not contain or are not derivative of Godzilla vs. Kong IP. There is no assignment of any intellectual property rights in your Work to Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. However, by submitting your memes, you hereby grant to Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., its parent, affiliates, and subsidiaries, and each of their respective licensees and assigns, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for three (3) years from the date the meme is submitted in response to this Creative Brief for the purpose of using your submitted meme across their various marketing platforms in association with Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc and Godzilla vs. Kong generally.
  • In exchange for the incentives set forth above, the Selected Creators grant Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., its parent, affiliates, and subsidiaries, and each of their respective licensees and assigns, a worldwide, exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license from the date the memes is submitted in response to this Creative Brief to use the submitted memes across their various marketing and distribution platforms, including without limitation, printed materials, outdoor billboards, murals and merchandise, such as t-shirts, in all media now known or hereafter devised.
  • Selected Creators will be required to sign releases, a license agreement, and an awardee agreement and provide a creative asset datasheet.
  • Don't include anything that could be interpreted as sexually explicit, racist, pornographic, sexist, political, discriminating, religious, or offensive. Also, all memes must comply with the submission requirements detailed in the Official Rules (linked below)
  • During the selection period, Talenthouse may reach out to those being shortlisted. Creators must respond to Talenthouse within forty-eight (48) hours or else the creator may forfeit all incentives (in Warner Bros. Pictures’ sole discretion). For the verification, the creator will be asked to provide the original files of your memes and a scan of your ID.
  • Talenthouse reserves the right to disqualify inappropriate, offensive, and harmful submissions as well as submissions that do not fit the brief and follow the guidelines or Official Rules.

  • Please note: In case of any inconsistencies between the English and translated versions of the Creative Brief and Official Rules, the English version will take priority.
  • No purchase necessary to enter or be selected. A purchase will not increase your chances of being selected.
HOW WARNER BROS. PICTURES WILL CHOOSE
Warner Bros. Pictures Inc will select from among all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one that meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines, and Official Rules. See official rules for eligibility criteria. Void where prohibited.

Designated judges will judge submitted Work based on the following criteria: (i) substance (33%); (ii) creativity (34%); and (iii) originality (33%).
