This week we speak with Bahraini film director Hala Matar. Based in New York and Los Angeles, Hala has directed films for Vice, NOWNESS, Interpol, Chanel, Kenzo, Vivienne Westwood and Diesel. She is a graduate from the University of Virginia and began her career as an art curator in New York City where she managed the gallery Chiles Matar. Hala’s work has been featured in Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Vogue, NME, Spin, W Magazine, Nylon, CNN and Harpers Arabia.
Hala discusses the art of well, art curation, and the passion and drive that not only made her want to become a director, but also what inspires to keep moving forward.
