Design has been evolving rapidly in recent years through research in new media, technology and material resulting in a frenetic production. My work is motivated by the energy expressed in the physical manifestation of software, technique and materials as well as its aesthetic and forms on contemporary culture. My design process is a manifest collaboration between elements focused on digital development, using a hands-on approach to fabrication research. I employ various approaches like scale models, computer models, and full scale prototype to study all aspects of a project at various scales and through various media.

Bio Giuseppe Munafo was born in Avola Italy in 1963.

He earned his academic degree in architecture at the University of Genova and completed his post-graduate study at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) School of Architecture in Newark, New Jersey. In addition to his work as a designer and architect, Munafo is an accomplished and respected painter and sculptor. He has been the recipient of numerous commissions from both private and public sources which have earned him international notoriety as an artist.

Munafo’s work is developed on the binomial concept of “form and content” and the continued experimentation with various materials and techniques to express a profound and rich multiplicity of ideas and effects. The interaction between materials and light and between structure and abstractions hinge on the interweaving and development of the various components of his work, infusing in it, a high level of energy and rapport between “humanness” and timelessness.

His work has been displayed at several important cultural and artistic events. Most recently (2008), he was selected to participate in the “Art Parade of New York” in which one of his contemporary art projects was presented for the “Deitch Projects” Art Gallery of New York City (USA). He is also a pivotal participant in the organization and coordination of art projects for the Museum of Art at Casa Colombo (MACC) where he works on the organization and presentation of art shows and displays.

He lives in Paramus, New Jersey (USA).
