Bio
Roderick Abercrombie is contemporary artist and former artist in residence at the Satellite project in Glasgow. He uses various mediums to express his work. He is painter and sculptor who has exhibited in Glasgow, London, Indonesia and the Bahamas. His gradual introduction to the medium of film arose through a wish to express himself through the combination of moving images and specific images. He is a naturally trained artist who used what was around him to bring to life his mental imagery and original vision of his view of the world.

In his mid twenties he came into contact with Tibetan Buddhism in Glasgow after his return from London. He became acquainted with the Tibetan Masters from Samye Ling Monastery and with one of its most senior monks, the Ven Gelong Karma Jiga. At this point he became a Tibetan Buddhist. Gelong Karma Jiga encouraged his interest in expressing his art through his spirituality. At this point he entered into collaborative work with the renowned the contemporary Tibetan master Rigul Tulku Rinpoche and Gelong Jiga, combining artistic and spiritual expression. were. The resulting collaborations are housed in a secret retreat location.
He was later invited by Gelong Jiga to create two large frescos within the Buddhist centre in Dundee, based on descriptions and imagery supplied by Karma Jiga. All of his Buddhist influenced work follows the mural painting tradition of Tibet using modern materials.
After an intensive schooling in film at the Royal Scottish Academy, Roderick has concentrated on his painting, working on a commission basis and is now based Los Angeles.
