WHAT IT IS	The Palo Alto International Film Festival (PAIFF) invites filmmakers to submit their live action, animated, mobile phone or documentary short films. The selected short films will screen at PAIFF 2011.

WHO IT'S FOR	Filmmakers

WHO IT'S FROM	The inaugural 2011 Palo Alto International Film Festival will explore the interplay between art and technology by focusing on the role of new technologies in film entertainment. PAIFF's goal is to facilitate, fuel and ignite current and future cinematic revolutions through education and entertainment. PAIFF convenes artists, media and technology professionals, and attendees in an intimate environment where they can experience great cinema, learn about cutting edge technologies and ideas, and celebrate the artists and innovators shaping the world of moving pictures.

HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN	One Grand Prize winner and three additional short films will be chosen with special consideration for the top 30 submissions that receive the highest number of votes. However, PAIFF may look beyond these qualified submissions to select the films that they feel best fit the festival.

WHAT THE WINNER WILL GET	The Grand Prize winning short film will be screened at PAIFF 2011, presented the PAIFF/Talenthouse Award and receive a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite 5. Three additional short films will be screened at PAIFF 2011 and provided tickets to PAIFF screenings, workshops and talks. The PAIFF/Talenthouse Award will also include travel and accommodation to Palo Alto, plus tickets to the PAIFFs’ screenings, workshops and talks.

GUIDELINES

Your film should be less than 30 minutes in length.

Travel and accomodation for the Grand Prize winner will be provided up to a total cost of $3000.

If your film is selected for exhibition please be advised that the festival will require: 35mm, Quicktime (native resolution, using pro-res 422 codec) or HDCam (not HDCam SR) prints/tapes. Exception for high school students: DVD (Region 0 or 1), HDCam or Quicktime (native resolution, using pro-res 422 codec) on DVD Data Disc or Hard Drive.

Also needed: Additional press kits with photo stills (color or black/white). Headshots of Director(s) and Writer(s). Biographies of Director(s) and Writer(s). Trailers, clip reels, posters, postcards, and EPK's, if available, to maximize the exposure for your film.

To submit, upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo, then enter the video URL and click "Get Video". Please be sure to upload your final video at least 48 hours prior to the submission deadline.
