Bio Welcome to my creative world. I am Nihan Altuntas, a 29 years old Turkish girl, whose passion is creating and designing. I have been crafting since I was old enough to pick a crayon. My favorite childhood toys were carton boxes, yarns, pieces of cloth and all kinds of paints. Everything around me that I can touch, can transform into another object by my hands. As I grew up, I've started to follow works of famous designers and visual arts in general.
I majored in cinema studies and I have my minor in marketing. During college, I got back to knitting to relax and to express myself. I never liked pattern books or reproducing brand sweaters. I would design authentic knitwear by improvising with needles, sometimes not even knowing what the result would be. So I’ve realized that crafting was my lifelong passion. The appreciation and approval for all of that hard work is the basis of my motivation to improve myself in this field.
Now I have a little studio and I started to work with a great branding team. I can say that proffesional support allows me much more time for creativity.
Today, thanks to the internet I have lots of international customer-friends. By time, all the great and supporting e-mails that I get everyday, made me dream a new fashion brand called “Nihan Altuntas”. This support encourages me for bigger steps on my future plans. I'm thrilled with the idea that somewhere in the world, someone is actually warmer, in a woolen sweater designed and knitted entirely by my hands.

Influences I may knit in a traditional way like grandmothers do.But I don't like my designs look like “Handknit”. I feel happier when people ask me “Where did you buy this sweater?” rather than “Did you knit the sweater by yourself?”. To hear this question frequently I do my best to knit my designs impossibly perfect that it couldn't be handknitI live in Istanbul. This city is a huge chaotic and very dynamic metropolitan ; everybody is in a hurry and time is very important.Generally when we have an evening plan after work, we don't have enough time to go back home to change.I think, as an Istanbulite, this rushing city affects my style; i mean you can save your time because they are also wearable for any occasion.I love exaggerated forms. For example not to knit something as a collar but a collar in a different form. As a result, sophisticated sculptural silhouettes also comfortable and wearable in ordinary day knitwears occur.
During both creation and knitting the most important thing for me,each design would be unique and authentic.If I see any similarities between my work and any other designs I rip off my work immediately.At this point, I show no mercy to my work because people trust me.Thus, they turn my authentic designs into their “Custom Order” unique designs depending their own color and material taste.
