Michael Karp has enjoyed a successful career composing music for a variety of venues and media, including works for television, film, and the concert stage.
Widely known for his work in television, Michael is an eleven-time recipient of ASCAP's prestigious “Most Performed Television Themes” Award, a five-time recipient of ASCAP's “Most Performed Television Show” Award, a one-time recipient of the “Most Performed Underscoring” Award, and the winner of two Emmys.
Some of Michael’s television themes include the “NBC/MSNBC Presidential Election/Inauguration Theme,” “Dateline NBC,” “NY Yankees Baseball,” “American Morning,” “Cristina’s Court,” “Outlaws & Lawmen,” “Headliners and Legends,” “World Series, International,” and “Live”with Regis and Kathie Lee.” His underscoring is also heard on “NBC Nightly News,” “The Price Is Right,” and the “Today Show.” His music has appeared in films such as “Reds”, “Baby, It’s You”, “She-Devil”, and the “Pelican Brief” and in numerous commercials, industrials and logos for national corporations such as AT&T, P & G, Perrier, Prudential, Sony and National Geographic.
Recently, his award-winning concert work, Affirmation for Strings has been included on the first CD in a new series showcasing American composers titled, “The Millennium Project - Made in the Americas.”
