Talenthouse

The both of us are at the VCU Brandcenter in Richmond, VA (USA) working on our MFAs in Advertising Design (Art Direction).

We've been studying and creating work in all forms of media: Print, Online, TV, Viral, Ambient, anything; you name it. We just finished up our first semester and are already going strong into our second.

SARAH KRAUS BIO:
If I looked out my peep-hole and saw a Martian, I would let him in. Martians are harmless.

If he opened my refrigerator he would find a single-slice of American cheese, three to-go packets of Jadine Soy Sauce, and a fuchsia-colored rapid de-puff eye-mask. If the Martian requested a dinner recommendation, I’d say: “doughnut holes.” And if, upon his exit, he asked me which amusements I would suggest he entertain during his visit, I would cite E.E. Cummings and respond: “Damn everything but the circus.”

I hail from the Midwest; where we say thing like: “I hail from the Midwest.” After completing my undergraduate degree in Advertising from Iowa State University, I worked as a regional graphic design marketer for Gensler, a worldwide architecture firm, in Chicago, Illinois. I am currently earning a Masters degree in Art Direction from VCU Brandcenter.

MICHAEL GRIFFITH BIO:
I'm a 2007 Advertising Design graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA (USA). My first job was a junior art director's position at Leo Burnett/ Arc Worldwide (Chicago). I then moved onto Common Ground Marketing for awhile before becoming a self-employed freelancer. I moved to Richmond last fall and am now attending the VCU Brandcenter. Besides advertising, I stay active with sports and currently training for Men's Fitness Magazine.

Influences SARAH'S INFLUENCES:
I am inspired by the random, the witty, the visually unusual. I appreciate courtesy. I respect nostalgia, and am a cheerleader for contradiction – it makes things interesting.

MICHAEL'S INFLUENCES:
My family, my friends, and God. Without them, I have nothing.
