My passion in painting is to capture the dreams that exist between light and dark – the sun illuminating radiant joy, the flicker of light in moist eyes, a forlorn shadow cast across a broken heart.

I've always enjoyed drawing, however, I have only recently begun painting regularly, due in large part to a friend of mine in London who is a journalist for The Guardian newspaper. While I was living in London, Vic Keegan and I would meet up for dinner to talk about the state of the Internet (we're both focused on technology for a living). However, we also thought it would be a good idea to flex our artistic muscles a bit more by giving ourselves an “assignment.” Each month, we would pick a theme and a deadline date (leave it to a journalist to enforce a deadline) and would then meet up again over dinner to share our paintings and stories. Our early themes were topics like “Wine“ (where Vic’s painting would consist of spilled wine on a canvas), “Abstract”, “Red”, “Travel”, etc. After I relocated to Ross, CA, Vic and I couldn’t meet in person over a nice glass of wine, but we didn't stop our monthly painting assignment. We now meet each month on Flickr where Vic has set up the Deadline Painting Group. You can find our history of themes and paintings there, along with a few others who have joined us along the way.
