Bio Photographer Joseph Llanes was raised by his father and stepmother as one of eight children. Growing up in Mexico, Llanes turned stray dogs and abandoned homes into a child's dream playground. This ability to see beyond the surface of objects would carry into his later work as abandoned locations and the periphery surrounding them would become beautiful backdrops for classic portraiture. Llanes' work ultimately seems to revolve around the themes of discovery, exploration and an existential desire to create correlation through the lens of a camera. Llanes graduated from Art Center College of Design with a BFA in Photography. As a student he was awarded the prestigious APA Best in Show Award and the FUji Scholarship. More recently, Joseph was featured in Communication Arts Design Annual. Clients include Decca/Universal Music, Forbes Magazine, AOL, New York Magazine, Virgin Records, Ogilvy, Paramount, CBS & LA Weekly.
Influences music, film & photographers Anton Corbin, Richard Avedon, Dan Winters & Guy Bourdin
