Acerca de Jim Lind

I strongly believe that each person is made up of a collection of the stories they tell. For this reason I’ve always felt compelled to share my stories with others in the form of photography. Whether real, somewhat real, or entirely fictional, these events expose that which is truly important to me. Often the images illicit fabricated narratives that are deeply rooted from the stories I experienced as a child. My photographs are a window into the realities and fantasies that I immerse myself in every day. There is a need to create new work that visually excites the imagination much in the same way a book does. While a picture may be worth 1000 words, a great picture escapes words and enters the imagination.

Locación Estados Unidos, Georgia, Savannah

Biografía I was born in Chicago, grew up in rural Vermont, and I'm now attending the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Inspired my film, I attempt to tell stories of hope and mystery with my imagery in hopes to inspire others. My work has appeared in numerous international publications as well as here in the states. In 2009, I finished in 1st Place for Fine Art photography in the national Emerging Professional put out my DPP Magazine. Recently, I had the pleasure of interning for acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz and plan on returning to her studio in NYC during the summer of 2010.

Influencias The London-New York duo, Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick, are highly influential in my decision making as a photographer. Their work primarily deals with the fabrication of historical events. They are extremely skilled in creating such fantastical images that only borderline insane individuals could make. Or maybe they are so comfortable with themselves that they allow their imagination to run freely without limitation. I am also greatly inspired by Diane Arbus. Whenever I look at her strange portraiture, I’m always left questioning the lives of the people in her photographs. She had such skill in blending the mystery with the familiarity.
