I Create torch-enameled bronze sculptures and kinetic mobiles
Locación Estados Unidos
Biografía
I was taught how to work with bronze, copper, steel and other metals, using an oxy/propane fine torch at an early age (11). As a child I would help my father, Donald Buby (who was partner with Malcolm Moran, of Gallery Carmel and others) fabricate torch enameled bronze sculptures.
Later, as an adult, I learned the finer techniques of metal sculptures and torch-fired enameling from Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, CA - as well as being invited to be a live-in artist at the Mendocino Art Center.
I attended U.C.L.A. and U.S.C., earning a B.A. in Anthropology & Arts from U.C.L.A., and continuing on at U.S.C. in their Graduate Film department.
My work has been shown at Ventana Gallery in Big Sur, at \"The Garcia Gallery\" and \"Gallery Carmel\", in Carmel, California. My celebrity collectors include a former member of \"The Monkees\", a former member of the Bush Administrations, the Clinton Administration, a producer of the film \"Repo Man\", and an Academy Nominated Art Director.
Influencias One of the most influential quotes of my father is: \"All great art comes from Nature\". In my work I have strived for my work to reflect the beauty of nature and the natural forces of the world around me and to communicate that emotion to my audience. I am influenced by the social world around me as well. My father used art politically to protest the Vietnam war (and indeed, as the Freedom of Information Act provided, he was under surveillance by the FBI and other agencies at that time) - Art therefore is not art unless it evokes an emotion and my job, as an artist is to create pieces that effect people.

I believe I grew up next door to you in Royal Oak. I kept in touch with your mom for many years, but have not heard from her in a long time.

I own one of your father's torch-fired enamel wall sculptures that my parents purchased around 1966. It is of timeless beauty.
