Surreal, staged photographs.
Locación Estados Unidos
Biografía Emily Korman began drawing and painting as a child, but her true passion is photography. Emily’s color photographs are cinematic in feel. Through focusing on light and the lack thereof, she creates surreal, sometimes disturbing tableaux in which she often plays the primary character. In 2009 she received her bachelor of fine arts degree in photography from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, where she was honored with the Rhodes Family Award for Outstanding Achievement in Photography. She was selected to participate in SVA's 2009 Mentor program and exhibit, and was fortunate to be mentored by American photographer Gregory Crewdson, who helped with her senior thesis. While in school she interned and assisted at a still-life studio in New York. Her work has been auctioned and exhibited in New York and New Jersey.
