Ours is a time of transition, and the visual expression of this transition can resemble other similar transitions. The dazed individual is stunned, as was the Medieval peasant when the political structures of the late Middle Ages fell apart. He had no idea of the Renaissance which slowly took form. Some look to the spirit, some look to each other. All look within and search for themselves. , so Kartik Rao has looked into the faces of many in order to visualizes his inner feelings, doubts and revelations. These images become icons, in a very spiritual sense, personifying emotions common to all. The people portrayed are no longer simple individuals, but icons of a new mythology necessary in order to understand our historical transition.
