When I was a child nothing captured my imagination like the work of the Jim Henson. As I watched the Fraggles with my family, my mind would take me on adventures where anything was possible and dreams came true. I ‘m now a comedian and balloon twister. Every time I work I want to inspire my audience to believe anything is possible, just like Jim Henson did for me.
When I heard that the Jim Henson Company were looking for images celebrating 30 years of Fraggles, I wanted to create something special for it. Over a two week period I devoted my free time to making these balloons and photographing them. I then gave them away to local kids or (in the case of Wembley and Boober) to a local charity that helps children with terminal illnesses.
The final image was created by my father, John Appleyard, who drew his inspiration from one of my favorite pieces of artwork by Banksy. This image of Jim Henson flying with Fraggles. We hope you like it! is what he came up with.
