For the past five years, Green Day’s music has had a huge influence on my life. Artistically speaking, they’ve inspired so many of my pieces in the past, so naturally, hearing about this contest was a dream come true! For this piece I specifically wanted to generate a sense of power and raw energy that Green Day has always managed to incorporate into their live performances. I’ve also appropriated the colour scheme of the piece to fit the visual theme of the Trilogy’s album art. I sincerely hope that the band will be able to see my art; their music and take-on-the-world attitude has helped me get through a lot of rough times. The group of them will always hold a special place in my heart, and I think that can be clearly reflected in this piece.
