"Animal Farm by Sam Kogon " By Sam Kogon
It wasn't until slowing down the speed of this tune, that I really connected with the songs lyrics. It just hits home for me. I grew up in the country with farm animals around me at all times. Inevitably, spending a long time living in New York City made me realize how great it is to have a place of your own, in the heart of the country, even if it's just a "dirt old shack".
The string ensemble symbolizes the yearning to get back to ones roots, and serves as the distant memory of the bucolic past. The percussion constantly remind you of the current setting, bringing you into the "now" with each hit of the drum. The guitars act as the passive vehicles which bind the past and present together.
